Katherine Heigl admits she’s a neighbor from hell!

The actress has revealed that she upset her neighbors in Utah by celebrating Christmas too long last year.

The 27 Dresses star and her husband Josh Kelley have a holiday retreat in the mountains and they received a “civilised note” from community leaders for failing to turn off their festive lights.

“I put up lights for Christmas and I love them — they’re jovial and they make me happy — and so I leave them up all year. It’s the mountains. Who cares?” she said.

“They didn’t like that so much. They asked me to turn them off in January… So I took ‘em off in July.”

Heigl — who raises three-year-old adopted daughter Naleigh with hubby Josh — recently revealed she’s keen to adopt another child.

“Josh and I started talking about it before we were even engaged,” she said.

“We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I’d like to adopt again.”

I'm so damn sick and tired of nosy neighbors or people thinking they have a say in how people should live when it doesn't effect them at all.

I used to feel like this. I was a reporter and would cover zoning meetings where homeowners would worry about a strip mall going in next to them or complain that somebody had put a really ugly addition on their house, etc. They'd all be talking about their property values, and I was like, "wah, wah, wah... who cares?!?!"

Then I became a homeowner. Don't know if you are one, too, but it's real money if you live near someone who doesn't take care of their property or paints it a weird color, etc. When you try to sell, it definitely will affect your ability and the amount of $ you can get for your house. If it's summer and a potential buyer drives by and your next door neighbor still has red and green lights up with Santa on the roof and Rudolf in the lawn, a lot of them are going to keep on driving.

It's bad here in Utah too, because everyone is SO into appearances. We had an overgrown backyard (because it's me and my mom living here and neither of us are into yard work and we have a huge back yard) and the neighbors called the city on us for it. We kept our front yard just fine, the back just looked crappy, and we got in trouble. Meanwhile, the COP the next block over lets his house look like it's been vacant since 1982 and not a damn thing happens to him. But our neighbors don't like us because we're not in "The Ward" (aka the church) and we don't socialize with them. I HATE our neighbors.

It depends on how bright they are. We have some neighbors that could be mistaken for the Griswolds in Christmas Vacation.

Same. I like certain pieces and they're up year round. This year there was so much going on that my Halloween stuff is still up in the hall and my christmas and halloween decs are scattered all over the dining room.

Does she live in some kind of exclusive community and not regulah folks housing? She probably signed an agreement saying she'd follow certain guidelines, like not leaving Christmas lights up until July.

No she can't. Some planned communities are very strict. Like my aunt could only have a wooden swing set in her yard.

If she lives in a neighborhood with a homeowners association then no she can't do whatever the fuck she wants. They regulate everything from the color you can paint your house to how high the grass on your lawn can be.

i could never live in one of those places, my inability to follow stupid rules would get my ass fined on the regular.

She probably lives in a planned subdivision. They have those rules in place so that property values stay the same.

I watched her Kimmel interview and she said she lives in a gated community so she probably does have some guidelines.

I hate HOAs. There's one in my town that calls the cops if you leave your garage door up for more than 10 minutes. Seriously, all the busybodies stand around going "Oh look, Tim and Mary just got home from the grocery store. And the door's going up...Okay, 10 minutes is up. Where's the phone ?" You aren't allowed to wash your car in the driveway, either. I would never move over to that neighborhood.

Also, a new section was added to my neighborhood and the people on that side belong to a HOA. So they keep coming to our side and trying for "You have to follow our HOA rules...You're grandfathered in ? Shoot. You wanna join our HOA then ?" Plus their HOA drives by our section in a mini van, jots crap down on a clipboard and tattles to the county. As soon as they stop in front of my house, I go out to their car with a camera and they take off.
