wauwy 19th-Jan-2012 01:53 pm (UTC)
I give her props but UGH and GROCE at Garth Brooks.

I really don't understand a good 98% of my own nation.
beatlesluv 19th-Jan-2012 03:07 pm (UTC)
not really a Garth fan either tb
mixtape_reverie 19th-Jan-2012 03:59 pm (UTC)
I know even word to every Garth song and I don't even like country music. I ain't even mad.
__restless 19th-Jan-2012 05:17 pm (UTC)
two words: chris gaines.
tuluum 19th-Jan-2012 10:19 pm (UTC)
i remember when thunder rolls was everywhere, not even gonna lie i loved that one. i liked a lot of what i heard from him in the 90s but i dont remember much now. great production and he always sounded good live.
kstew 20th-Jan-2012 12:02 am (UTC)

and...idk the rest of the words but yeah
retromaury 19th-Jan-2012 01:54 pm (UTC)
Is this a U.S or world wide thing? Cuz I know Madonna is more popular world wide than Maria i mean Mariah had to play a show in a fair in Brazil while Madonna sells out stadiums everywhere
alexislex 19th-Jan-2012 01:56 pm (UTC)
US. I don't think anyone outside North America listens to Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks.
tuluum 19th-Jan-2012 11:09 pm (UTC)
garth brooks got a lot of airplay in the 90s in my country on adult contemporary. country music always has, grew up with dolly and kenny songs on the radio. it's not a dominant genre but the big names do get played.
drammh 19th-Jan-2012 01:56 pm (UTC)
true talk. Mariah is also super popular worldwide though... just saying. not that much of a fan
heartlockedx 19th-Jan-2012 02:21 pm (UTC)
Mariah is huge in Asia too.
popartpistol 19th-Jan-2012 02:35 pm (UTC)
Srsly, I've never even heard of Garth Brooks.
ouronlylight 19th-Jan-2012 04:57 pm (UTC)
IDK where this study was based, but it says that they only started counting the numbers in 1991, which cuts out a LOT of Madonna's album sales.
drammh 19th-Jan-2012 01:55 pm (UTC)
she deserves it. there's a gold mine in her throat
alexislex 19th-Jan-2012 01:55 pm (UTC)
I guess ppl really do love their Garth Brooks. Pretty surprising tho. I didn't think two country music artists would make it to the top ten.
playedinloops 19th-Jan-2012 02:32 pm (UTC)
4 country artists in the top ten! I think it shows more that those are the fans who still buy albums, though. And those are the people who were big in the 90s, before downloading.
alexislex 19th-Jan-2012 02:48 pm (UTC)
Four? Who are the other two?
childish 19th-Jan-2012 02:59 pm (UTC)
I downloaded the Billboard Top 100 tracks for 2011, and I'm stunned at how much country ended up on my mp3 player. It's like a good 1/4 of the charts apparently.
loganx2 19th-Jan-2012 01:56 pm (UTC)
Wait where is Michael Jackson?
champagnexdream 19th-Jan-2012 01:57 pm (UTC)
This, WTF.
my_bitch_face 19th-Jan-2012 02:12 pm (UTC)
it's a list of artists, not pedophiles
laetifico 19th-Jan-2012 02:22 pm (UTC)
lmao irl
fiddlemearound 19th-Jan-2012 02:31 pm (UTC)
hm.
frigginbgeek 19th-Jan-2012 05:42 pm (UTC)
NO
leitao 19th-Jan-2012 02:18 pm (UTC)
The list's based on sales from '91 to now . . . so, yeah, it is a bit odd. The '91 Dangerous album alone sold 32 mill. worldwide; not sure of the domestic numbers, but it was MJ's fastest selling album ever in the U.S. o_O

To say nothing of his other three studio albums. I mean, HIStory is also one of the best selling albums of all time; Blood on the Dance Floor is the best selling remix album of all time; and Invincible's numbers aren't too shabby, despite no promo and the controversy that soon followed its release. Hmm. *shrug*
belkisa 19th-Jan-2012 03:05 pm (UTC)
ikr, what is this list?
beatlesluv 19th-Jan-2012 03:09 pm (UTC)
i have to agree...im totally side-eyeing this list for that.

run_atreyu 20th-Jan-2012 12:39 pm (UTC)
Maybe they meant artists who are alive. But some of The Beatles are dead so IDK
champagnexdream 19th-Jan-2012 01:57 pm (UTC)
She deserves it, tbh.
nullteiler 19th-Jan-2012 01:57 pm (UTC)
Only in the USA though..
ani_di_franco 19th-Jan-2012 01:58 pm (UTC)
I'm always drunk when I hear Garth Brooks which is a good combination.

nullteiler 19th-Jan-2012 02:45 pm (UTC)
Reminds me of "the sweetest thing"

love that movie idc
ani_di_franco 19th-Jan-2012 02:46 pm (UTC)
You're too big to fit in here
jaded_fae 19th-Jan-2012 03:07 pm (UTC)
Not even gonna lie, I LOVE this song, especially when I'm out getting drunk.
nullteiler 19th-Jan-2012 01:58 pm (UTC)
Where is Brandy?
roseofjuly 19th-Jan-2012 04:18 pm (UTC)
Only Brandy's first two albums sold well.
frigginbgeek 19th-Jan-2012 05:43 pm (UTC)
I didn't know she had two albums.. I thought the only one thing she had was that Grammy when she was featured on some song.
benihime99 19th-Jan-2012 01:59 pm (UTC)
And I thought MJ would be here...
roseofjuly 19th-Jan-2012 04:18 pm (UTC)
It's only from 1991. Not that MJ wasn't a seller after 1991, but I think a lot of his success was strongest before then.
sparklepixie 19th-Jan-2012 02:00 pm (UTC)
If it's from 1991 I'm not surprised. She had a #1 every year of the 90s
baboona 19th-Jan-2012 02:00 pm (UTC)
U.S tho
dearmisterecho 19th-Jan-2012 02:00 pm (UTC)
Every time I see that gif or gifs from that the "Heartbreaker" video I can never remember the correct lyrics...just the lyrics to "Love Muffin":

and lmao Garth Brooks. AAAAND THE THUNDER ROOOOOOOOLLS, AND THE LIGHTNIN' STRIKES~
shinagara 19th-Jan-2012 02:33 pm (UTC)
lol it's the same for me! Love Muffin is totally superior though, Missy Elliott feature and all
hola_meg_a_cola 19th-Jan-2012 03:04 pm (UTC)
MadTV is flawless.
dearmisterecho 19th-Jan-2012 03:07 pm (UTC)
it became unbearable after the sorta-original cast all left :\ (i.e. Will Sasso, Debra Wilson, Nicole Sullivan)
henryevil 19th-Jan-2012 03:37 pm (UTC)
Debra Wilson >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
hellicoptajuuce 19th-Jan-2012 02:01 pm (UTC)
