Cillian Murphy & Chris O'Dowd are friends?
ACTOR Chris O'Dowd is hoping that his stag party won't be the stuff movies are made of. The Hollywood A-lister has revealed that previous stag parties he has attended in Ireland have ended with more than a little drama. In one case, the antics of his party pals sparked a water rescue from the River Shannon.
The Bridesmaids star recalled the stag party of fellow Irish actor and close friend Cillian Murphy, which saw the gang rent out cruisers for a leisurely sail down the Shannon. However, by the end of the trip the lads had crashed one boat -- prompting a rescue mission.
And the mayhem didn't end there as the group had to call for yet another replacement boat after the second cruiser was almost set alight by a disposable barbecue.
"One of the lads decided to light a disposable barbecue, which he'd placed on the plastic decking of the boat.
"He realised that he needed a buffer, so he used a newspaper, but that caught fire. He quickly threw the barbecue overboard, but because the wind was blowing the wrong way, all the tiny coals blew back towards us and got scattered around the plastic decking," he said.
While O'Dowd will be anxious to keep the damage to a minimum at his own stag celebrations, he revealed the carnage of the cruisers did little to dampen the celebrations.
"I think Cillian's agent had paid the deposit, so we weren't too worried about the damage, and the fact that we needed a second replacement boat," he added.
O'Dowd (32) popped the question to girlfriend Dawn Porter at Havelet Bay in Guernsey on St Stephen's Day. The pair had been enjoying a Christmas break on the island where Dawn grew up. The pair have been dating for almost three years after meeting at Dawn's 30th birthday in January 2009. The pair broke the news on Twitter with O'Dowd joking: "I'm so bored of all this happiness and sex. I'm getting married."
His fiancee also got in on the act, adding: "I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it."
The actor first hinted at wedding plans after a romantic getaway last summer. He and Dawn spent two weeks in Burgundy enjoying "a very romantic holiday". "Dawn and I made love, we went swimming, but there was no wedding proposal -- I'm sure she'll ask me when she's good and ready," he joked at the time.

i remember my parents used to make us go on those trips down the Shannon every Summer when I was younger. I hated it, four of us on a tiny boat together was not my idea of fun, would have been made 20 times better if e sailed past these two hehe.
I bet Cillian wouldn't be happy knowing peeps are telling crazy stories about him though
