if you're an angsty teen
hergun_wentbang 5th-Jan-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
ia
_lackof_passion 5th-Jan-2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
exactly. it was great when i was 13 and read it.
my_car_is_prada 5th-Jan-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
it's kind of over-hyped tbh. It's alright.
_keng_ 5th-Jan-2012 05:58 pm (UTC)
I read it last year, and then again recently. I thought it was great the first time, but didn't like it as much the second time for some reason. It was still good, though, IMO.
warsawed 5th-Jan-2012 06:00 pm (UTC)
It changed my life in high school, but i'm scared to reread it now lmao
bubble_monkey9 5th-Jan-2012 06:05 pm (UTC)
no
thelistening731 5th-Jan-2012 06:07 pm (UTC)
I like it.

Edited at 2012-01-05 06:07 pm (UTC)
goofusgallant 5th-Jan-2012 06:09 pm (UTC)
No.
I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read it when I was younger.
flawlessa 5th-Jan-2012 06:12 pm (UTC)
i'm reading it now and the narrator cries at everything
lovejoydiver 5th-Jan-2012 06:14 pm (UTC)
depends on how old you are. it really spoke to me when i was an angsty 14 year old.
hrdtxpln 5th-Jan-2012 06:15 pm (UTC)
I skimmed it when I was around 14-15.
From what I recall, it's pretty much about an unhappy guy. Think Catcher in the Rye.
killmyunicorn 5th-Jan-2012 06:17 pm (UTC)
if you're over the age of 19 don't bother with it
it's one of those books that if you read as a teen, it seems ridiculously deep and meaningful....but then you grow up lol
oceanhue 5th-Jan-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
If you're a mature adult, no. Even when I was a dumb teen I thought it was stupid.
winninghearts 5th-Jan-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
it is legit terrible. even as an angsty, poetry-writing teen, it was too much for me and I hated it.
poisonedsky 5th-Jan-2012 06:27 pm (UTC)
No, and I even read it when I was a freshman and thought it was terrible
okay_awesome 5th-Jan-2012 06:27 pm (UTC)
No. I probably would've liked it if I read it in middle school/high school though...
skeet_skeet 5th-Jan-2012 06:36 pm (UTC)
It's....ok, but not the huge deal most people on tumblr think it is.
rhapsodeeinblue 5th-Jan-2012 07:21 pm (UTC)
No.
scriptedending 5th-Jan-2012 07:22 pm (UTC)
I loved it when I was 16, but I am afraid to reread it now.
momalish 5th-Jan-2012 07:58 pm (UTC)
Some of it is relatable but other bits just sound dumb (such as Charlie feeling ~infinite seriously wat)
evangelion 5th-Jan-2012 09:15 pm (UTC)
think of it like cw show quality. it's a quick read so i kind of enjoyed it but i don't think i would ever say it's good.
no_x_doubts 6th-Jan-2012 03:43 am (UTC)
i thought it was really good!! idk why everyone is hating here. and it's a really fast read
thehatt 6th-Jan-2012 08:50 am (UTC)
it took me like 2 hours to read. meh.
theonlykow 7th-Jan-2012 08:00 am (UTC)
Wooow, way more hate than I expected! It's YA, very accessible, light on the morality... the narrator is a fucking sociopath! He matures about as much as you'd expect a freshman in high school to mature in a year or two - i.e. not that much. I thought it had a great voice, great characters and great pacing. Not a difficult read, and not a substantially innovative work, but still entertaining and interesting.

Haters gonna hate.
dolcetta 5th-Jan-2012 05:54 pm (UTC)
WHERE DID MY CASEY POST GO
fionaapple 5th-Jan-2012 05:55 pm (UTC)
It was already posted, bb.
dolcetta 5th-Jan-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
oh damn :( well thank u for telling me :)
flawlessa 5th-Jan-2012 05:54 pm (UTC)
i'm in the middle of reading this book rn. who's the girl on the left supposed to be?
logan_lerman 5th-Jan-2012 05:56 pm (UTC)
Alice, i believe
flawlessa 5th-Jan-2012 06:01 pm (UTC)
thank you! :)
fionaapple 5th-Jan-2012 05:54 pm (UTC)
Ugh, Emma Watson as Sam was the worst move they could've possibly done. I can't believe Stephen Chbosky signed off on that. That being said, I'm excited to see this! Especially Nina Dobrev as the sister, I've started stanning for her.
yourlivewire 5th-Jan-2012 06:02 pm (UTC)
i'm so excited to see nina as the sister, she's gonna do amazing in that role. ♥
etoile_amore 5th-Jan-2012 06:04 pm (UTC)
yeah, idg that casting at all
thelistening731 5th-Jan-2012 06:08 pm (UTC)
Yeah, she's the only one in the cast that I'm not too excited about. The role shouldn't have gone to her.
logan_lerman 5th-Jan-2012 06:15 pm (UTC)
i love emma but shes really not what i pictured to be Sam at all. idk we'll see
sincetomorrow 5th-Jan-2012 06:26 pm (UTC)
ikr? I pictured sam as an isabel lucas type, looks-wise.
skeet_skeet 5th-Jan-2012 06:39 pm (UTC)
Chbosky signed off on it because Emma basically went to Hollywood and got that movie financing. There was a screening of the film and twitter peeps who were there said very positive things about it.

fionaapple 5th-Jan-2012 06:44 pm (UTC)
Oh ok, makes sense. Just wish it had been someone else that fit the profile more, but hopefully Emma will be good.
momalish 5th-Jan-2012 08:02 pm (UTC)
Eh, I don't think Emma Watson was such a bad choice. I don't think Sam has any moments that will present a particular challenge, so Emma's mediocre acting might be okay.
no_x_doubts 6th-Jan-2012 03:48 am (UTC)
this!! ugh i never liked emma anyway, i really don't think she's a good actress let alone a good fit for this character
bodylikemind 5th-Jan-2012 05:55 pm (UTC)
i never read this book but that is just a cute photo in general
glambbydoll 5th-Jan-2012 05:55 pm (UTC)

one_hoopy_frood 5th-Jan-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
The styling for this movie looks awfullll.
hocus_pocus 5th-Jan-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
well it's set in the early nineties what do you expect
one_hoopy_frood 5th-Jan-2012 05:58 pm (UTC)
It doesn't look like the early 90s though.
_keng_ 5th-Jan-2012 05:59 pm (UTC)

logan_lerman 5th-Jan-2012 05:58 pm (UTC)
