Stevie Nicks heartbroken over mother's death

Stevie Nicks’ 84-year-old beloved mother, Barbara Nicks, passed away in a Scottsdale, AZ area hospital on December 29, after a battle with pneumonia.

Family insiders revealed that a heartbroken Stevie, 63, sat at Barbara’s bedside for days before she passed.

“Stevie was extremely close to her mother and barely left her side over the past few days—it was almost like a hospice situation as they knew she could pass at any minute,” stated the insider.

“Close friends and family also took around-the-clock shifts to make sure Stevie and Barbara were taken care of.

“They also held frequent vigils for Barbara—they wanted to make sure she passed in the most comfortable and respected way possible.”

The insider added that this is a big loss for many in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area as Barbara was a local celebrity in her own right, and had many friends and fans.

Rest in peace, Mrs. Nicks. Stevie already lost her father... I wish her peace and comfort and I'm so sorry for the family's loss, especially around the holidays. I can't fathom losing my parents. :(

this is really sad. i don't know WHAT the fuck i'll do when my mom dies. sometimes it still keeps me up at night thinking about it, tbh. we're super close; i'm her only child and she raised me without my dad in the picture. she's legit my best friend and i have no idea what will keep me wanting to stick around on the earth once she is gone! (tl;dr)

I sometimes lie awake at night and stress about my mom dying too. I feel weird if I tell people that though, so I'm glad to hear someone else say it.
fouralarm 30th-Dec-2011 11:02 pm (UTC)
yeah, i never tell people irl haha. right now i'm 22 and she's 51 and healthy, so barring an accident or something unexpected it won't happen for many years, but i have no idea how i'll deal when she's actually elderly. i can't really see myself feeling any differently about it then tbh

I try not to think about my mom being gone because it seriously depresses me.

i know it's inevitable one day but i hope it's a REALLY long time away

I worry about my whole immediate family. Like most nights I can't even sleep because I'm so worried.
muzicnem 30th-Dec-2011 11:11 pm (UTC)
This. I'd be a serious fucking wreck if my mom died. Idk how I'll deal with it in the future.
succexey 30th-Dec-2011 11:13 pm (UTC)
i do the same thing. i do it with my grandma too. it makes me paranoid because i feel if i keep thinking about it then i'll just jinx myself and it will really happen. D:

Both of my parents have survived cancer. My Mom when I was 5 and my Dad a few years ago. I was too young to really grasp how serious it was when my Mom was sick (she was worse than my Dad and was very near death, begging the doctor to let her die by the end of it) so when my Dad got sick and I realized what my Mom had gone through and everything, it was like they were both sick at the same time or something and I got really paranoid about losing her.

I'm lucky though. A lot of people don't see their Mom or Dad come back from the hospital, and I got more time with both.

I do the same thing. I'm an only child and she had me kinda late (36), so I'm constantly worrying about what I'm gonna do. I seriously don't think I'll be able to handle it, she's everything to me.

This is so sad, and right around the holidays. :(

I'm almost 30 and lost my dad 4 years ago. When I lose my mom I think I'd feel like an orphan, I wouldn't know what to do with myself, I talk to her every day and we live states apart.

aw bb i'm sorry about your dad :(
yackyackyack 31st-Dec-2011 05:24 am (UTC)
Ugh, yeah, I'm a bit older than you but lost my mom in 2001 and my dad in 2009 and yea, it kinds of does make you feel orphaned no matter how old you are, especially around holidays.
aeryn 31st-Dec-2011 02:57 pm (UTC)
Wow I'm really sorry to hear that. Do you have siblings, or other family close by? I have no other family other than my older sister, who still lives with my mom and is a little emotionally unstable. And because they live 250 miles away I am still really on my own already. I am afraid when my mom goes, I'll be stuck taking care of my sister.
