Playboy confirms Lindsay Lohan issue is "breaking records"

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Lindsay Lohan's nude photo spread for Playboy is helping the men's magazine break sales records, according to Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
CNN calls to a dozen newsstands in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Atlanta Sunday found just one that is sold out of the issue, and that store expected more to arrive Monday. The others were experiencing high sales numbers of the issue, more copies than Playboy has pushed in years.
Lohan, 25, was reportedly paid close to $1 million to pose for the photos taken in a style reminiscent of the nude photograph of Marilyn Monroe that graced the debut issue of Playboy in 1953.
Unlike Lohan, Monroe was reportedly paid just $50 for the 1949 photo shoot that produced the image that was bought by Hefner after she became a star.
"The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records," Hefner said in a message posted on his Twitter account Sunday.
A Playboy spokesman would not give sales numbers, but the official did say it was selling "very well."
The Playboy gig was a rare moneymaking opportunity for Lohan, whose acting career has been hampered in the past two years by frequent trips to court, probation restrictions, extended drug rehab stints and several visits to jail.

ummm so it's not a HUGE HIT. Plus Playboy has been struggling in the past few years, it's better than it usually is but that's to be expected
in stores now!! (as well as the playboy)
It's a smut mag, yes, but Hugh Hefner, for all his millions of personal faults, is an excellent editor. No matter how superficial the filler articles are, they are well crafted.
Sign that the World Has Gone Bat-Shit: So many actual news magazines have fallen to blogger-level quality, yet a tittie mag still requires its staff to adhere to standard practices in journalistic quality control.
And, most importantly (to me), typos and grammatical errors are virtually nonexistent.
That being said, "Record Breaking Sales" of a pornographic magazine in the age of "Tits or GTFO" downloading doesn't exactly require overwhelming numbers. Even at the height of the Playboy empire, the profits from the magazine were dwarfed by what the Playboy Clubs raked in.
Of course not because the numbers would not be impressive. Stores that sell pornos don't usually carry many of the same mag so saying a store/stand is sold out doesn't mean thousands were sold. Could mean like 10 or 20.
people think playboy is irrelevant due to the internet and accessibility of nudes but it actually circulates millions in the US and around 4.5 million worldwide
it's killing me
Hows her film career going btw?
