In Memorium: TV Shows We Lost In 2011

2011 was a brutal year for television. Shows dropped like flies. From decades-old daytime shows to quickly-canceled prime-time fare, the 60 programs featured in this slideshow all ended their run. Now, sit back with some tissues and take a moment to remember the television shows we lost in 2011.

Also a video montage with other some shows that were omitted from this list.

Hannah Montana: March 24, 2006 - January 16, 2011
As the star went up in smoke, so went the show

Life Unexpected: January 18, 2010 - January 18, 2011
Cancellation expected.

Glory Daze: November 16, 2010 - January 18, 2011
The '80s are over. Now the show is too.

Medium: January 3, 2005 - January 21, 2011
At least she can still talk to its spirit...

Lie to Me: January 21, 2009 - January 31, 2011
No lies, sad death

Friday Night Lights: October 3, 2006 - February 9, 2011
Clear eyes, full hearts, couldn't survive.

Human Target: January 15, 2010 - February 9, 2011
They got him.

$#*! My Dad
No $#*!

Greek: July 9, 2007 - March 7, 2011
Much like the ancient Greek civilization it emulated, the show is history.

The Defenders: September 22, 2010 - March 11, 2011
There is no defense in the end.

The Cape: January 9, 2011 - March 11, 2011
Six seasons and a movie? Not so much.

V: November 3, 2009 - March 15, 2011
At least the show ended before the world did.

Big Love: March 12, 2006 - March 20, 2011
There wasn't enough love to keep it going.

Detroit 1-8-7: September 21, 2010 - March 20, 2011
1-8-7ed before its time.

Skins: January 17, 2011 - March 21, 2011
Sometimes sex, drugs and controversy just aren't enough.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl: September 27, 2007 - March 22, 2011
The end was not a secret.

No Ordinary Family: September 28, 2010 - April 5, 2011

Off the Map: January 12, 2011 - April 6, 2011
Even harder to find now

That they are.

Sunshine has faded into night

Perfect Couples: December 20, 2010 - April 7, 2011
Maybe not-so-perfect after all?

Remember Mad About You? That was a good show...

The Suite Life on Deck: September 26, 2008 - May 6, 2011
Not so suite now that it's over

Brothers & Sisters: September 24, 2006 - May 8, 2011
The family that stays together, gets canceled together.

Stargate Universe: October 2, 2009 - May 9, 2011
Turns out, the universe does have an end

Better with You: September 22, 2010 - May 11, 2011
Maybe they would have been better apart?

Outsourced: September 23, 2010 - May 12, 2011
Replaced by a cheaper program from India

Smallville: October 16, 2001 - May 13, 2011
Perhaps kryptonite was its undoing...

Mad Love: February 14, 2011 - May 16, 2011
Viewers were more mad than in love.

Hellcats: September 8, 2010 - May 17, 2011
Apparently, hellcats don't have nine lives.

The chase has ended.

Running Wilde: September 21, 2010 - May 21, 2011
No more running.

The Event: September 20, 2010 - May 23, 2011
Maybe the Event was the show's ending?

The Chicago Code: February 7, 2011 - May 23, 2011
What's the code for cancellation?

The Oprah Winfrey Show: September 8, 1986 - May 25, 2011
You've got a cancellation! And you've got a cancellation!
And you've got a cancellation!

Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior: February 16, 2011 - May 25, 2011
Is it suspect that the show behaved so poorly?

The Hard Times of RJ Berger: June 6, 2010 - May 30, 2011
The times got too hard.

Traffic Light: February 8, 2011 - May 31, 2011
Red light!

Camelot: February 25, 2011 - June 10, 2011
Let it fade into legend...

United States of Tara: January 18, 2009 - June 20, 2011
Not so united anymore

Law & Order: Criminal Intent: September 30, 2001 - June 26, 2011
Does the absence of law and order mean TV anarchy?

Men of a Certain Age: December 7, 2009 - July 6, 2011
Much like men of a certain age, this show's time was limited.

Law & Order: Los Angeles: September 29, 2010 - July 11, 2011
Crime once again can control the City of Angels

The Nine Lives of Chloe King: June 14, 2011 - August 16, 2011
Maybe it could have used a few more?

State of Georgia: June 29, 2011 - August 17, 2011
Let's try the state of Hawaii next time.

Rescue Me: July 21, 2004 - September 7, 2011
Nope.

The benefits have expired

The show was preceded in death by the Gosselin family.

All My Children: January 5, 1970 - September 23, 2011
Nothing lasts forever, but at least this came close.

The Playboy Club: September 19, 2011 - October 3, 2011
No one wants to remember that part of the '60s.

They were agents of their own demise.

[info]interrobamf 17th-Dec-2011 04:34 am (UTC)

[info]miss_29 17th-Dec-2011 06:57 am (UTC)
LMAO his appearance on Leno afterwards was SO awkward.
[info]heyignatzmouse 17th-Dec-2011 07:28 am (UTC)

[info]happy_endings11 17th-Dec-2011 05:11 am (UTC)
I gave up. There was no point in them at all. Sometimes, no humor is better then bad humor...
[info]odetobilliejoe 17th-Dec-2011 05:53 am (UTC)
Same here, couldn't stop reading because it is so relentlessly bad.

I miss them most of all
[info]certifiedsinner 17th-Dec-2011 04:37 am (UTC)
i didn't know that was cancelled! should i still watch season 1?
[info]ljubavirakija 17th-Dec-2011 04:41 am (UTC)
Such a tough call. The highlight of the show is Morgan and Merlin; but, you have to suffer through Arthur/Gwen. Not to mention, the episodes don't gel well. IDK. I enjoyed the show; but, I don't think I would recommend it. However, if you're a fan of Eva and Joseph, then you should watch it.
[info]sarahsumbrella 17th-Dec-2011 02:37 pm (UTC)
If you like watching Jamie Campbell-Bower and Eva Green's horrible acting yeah. Otherwise, no it was dreadful.
[info]onesilkstocking 17th-Dec-2011 06:52 am (UTC)
i love eva but she was a w f u l on this
[info]theatervine 18th-Dec-2011 11:53 pm (UTC)
Honestly? Everyone BUT Arthur and Guinevere are amazing. The show should have been all about Merlin, Morgana, Igraine, Gawain, Lancelot and Kay.
[info]bgwqlc 17th-Dec-2011 04:26 am (UTC)
Oprah should not count because she ended the show and was not cancelled. I don't think Hannah Montana was cancelled either because Disney tends to end shows after a few years in general. Also, I have never heard of most of these shows so that is probably why they were cancelled.
[info]04nbod 17th-Dec-2011 07:32 pm (UTC)
Or Secret Diary of a Call Girl
[info]therealycats 17th-Dec-2011 04:35 am (UTC)
It's not just about shows that the network cancelled; it's a list of shows that ended during 2011, regardless of how that end came about.
[info]lovelyeli 17th-Dec-2011 04:26 am (UTC)
Smallville: October 16, 2001 - May 13, 2011

this show went on for too damn long
[info]m1nderb1nder 17th-Dec-2011 04:28 am (UTC)

[info]music_lover56 17th-Dec-2011 04:31 am (UTC)
ikr, and I never even watched it.
[info]interrobamf 17th-Dec-2011 04:32 am (UTC)
WB/CW loves to stretch its shows to the breaking point.
[info]certifiedsinner 17th-Dec-2011 04:43 am (UTC)
season 8 and 9 were amazing, actually.
[info]ashe_frost 17th-Dec-2011 04:43 am (UTC)
The CW/WB does that shit all the time.

7th Heaven was the absolute worst.

I hated that show but I used to love reading the recaps on TWoP.
