Is Lindsay Lohan's nude, Marilyn Monroe-inspired pictorial in Playboy a desperate ploy for attention from a trouble-plagued star?
Not so, the 25-year-old actress tells the men's magazine, in just-released quotes from her interview. (The cover and interior shots were leaked online earlier in the week, prompting the mag to move up the release date.)
"Sex and sexuality are a part of nature, and I go along with nature," the Mean Girls star says of her in-the-buff photos, which are an homage to the late Monroe's own iconic Playboy spread.
"Knowing yourself and your body is so important because it gives you confidence, and in life, women need confidence."
In the leaked pics, Lohan wears just a pair of a pumps, with her blonde locks in retro-style waves and with her lips a bright shade of vampy red.
"It's a very male-dominated world to begin with, so knowing yourself and being comfortable with your body is an important thing for me as a woman. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this is mine."

Lindsay on Playboy: Posing Nude Gives Me "Confidence"

lmao
do you have the picture bac?
so sad how people always try to look for the negative in everything
If I looked really good I'd definitely pose for nude pics and would be flattered if people paid me money for them AND put me on the cover of one of the most popular magazines.
Maybe it's exploitation to narrow-minded people that want to take issue with EVERYTHING.
And people are going to pay for the magazine to see her photos, she's not going to have to take her top off every time someone views the photos. Who exactly is being exploited here?
i love the whole "women should be comfortable with their body but only if they're ~classy~ about it" argument
Where I hate the Playboy is empowering argument is a case of follow the money. These women, even Linds make a fraction of the money that Hefner and his company does. It's also why I'll never believe for a second that Girls Gone Wild is empowering, because that creeper Joe Francis is making a ton of money off of women's T&A. At least with Playboy they women are at some point sober before and during. Instead of being fed drinks and being shoved a release.
They might have a margin of control in Playboy, as far as some get final photo say. Some get to say what they will and will not show. That's very few of the many who pose. But Hefner makes more, and he owns those for life.
I remember seeing Larry Flynt years ago and him scoffing at the comparison between him and Hefner, and that Hefner was somehow classier and Flynt was a straight up pornographer. Flynt said it was because he looked like a skeeve but Hef looks like a boring Math teacher. They both made their fortune on naked women, but somehow Hef has managed to bullshit people into him being "tasteful" and it being an "honor".
I'm sure there are some women who really do find it to enrich their lives beyond the paycheck. But I think there are totally some things that should be looked at and questioned a lot more closely on the whole, when it comes to Playboy.
It's not exploitation if you define the conditions and you are treated well.
and the people rolling their eyes and telling you off are fucking ridiculous
Appearing naked in a het men's magazine for het men to look at for their sexual gratification is not empowerment. It's no surprise that a patriarchal society has come to a place where that is what women are told is empowering... cause it's conveniently also a way that is sexually stimulating for men. Lindsay might be getting off on it sexually, but that isn't the point nor does the viewer give a shit. The point, and the reason she's getting paid and the reason the magazine publishes it's photos, is to make the male viewer get off. She's strictly a sexual object (they grossly take it even further and isn't even herself, she's a character) and that is nothing new and it's never been empowering.
When men explore their sexuality, they find things that turn them on, places they like to touch and be touched, create fantasies that stimulate them, etc. It revolves around their own gratification. When women explore their sexuality, it involves showing men their naked bodies. It's still about het men's gratification.
That might not be Lindsay's personal motivation, but that's the pigeon hole she's "allowed" by society to explore within. When she realized she was attracted to women and pursued such a relationship, there was backlash. But now that she's willing to show dudes her jubblies, they are okay with that kind of exploration. Nakid pics for the interwebs is good. Actually discovering that she enjoys sex and who she enjoys it with was slutty and scandalous.
Also using this as an excuse to post a pic of Caz and her <3 I LOVE them.
"I might be married to an almost 40 year old man in 7 years but guess what you'll be doing?"
Marilyn is the boss bitch, obvs
