IT'S SOAP NEWS FRIDAY!!!

OLTL's Head Writer Says It's "Impossible" to Undo Soap's Cliffhanger Ending!

Unlike with All My Children where a closed ended finale was reportedly taped.

One Life to Live's head writer Ron Carlivati was instructed by Prospect Park — the company that licensed the ABC soaps with plans to take them online - to pen several open-ended storylines in preparation for the soap's move online.

The scribe tells Soap Opera Digest there is no way to go back and edit the finale, or shoot new footage to give fan's closure.

"It's impossible. There is no reshooting of anything at this point."

You would think Disney-ABC would at least have the decency to produce a pair of 90-minute All My Children and One Life to Live reunion movies to give the fans closure for these storied shows that financed ABC's primetime pilot development for decades, while entertaining millions of fans and training generations of Hollywood A-listers.

But then again, that would be too much like right.

Y&R Star Michael Fairman SUES Chiropractor in Scientology Drama!!!!

"Young and the Restless" star Michael Fairman has filed a lawsuit against a Scientologist chiropractor -- claiming she refused to see him and his family after he was excommunicated from the Church.

Fairman claims he was a prominent member of the Church, but became disenchanted with the way the Church was running things. Fairman claims Church leaders got fed up with him earlier this year, branded him and his wife "suppressive persons" and blacklisted the family from all things Scientology.

After Fairman was ousted, the actor claims he received a letter from the family chiropractor -- an active Scientologist -- informing him she would no longer treat the Fairman family. Fairman also claims she refused to hand over a copy of the family's medical records.

In the lawsuit, Fairman claims he MUST have been discriminated against because he's no longer with the Church -- noting that he's been a good, paying customer since 2003.

Brandon Barash and Natalie Hall Get Engaged!

Congratulations are in order for General Hospital’s Brandon Barash and former All My Children star Natalie Hall.

The couple are engaged!

Barash tweeted the news Hall accepted his proposal saying, “Hey Twitterverse...she said yes. Who's the luckiest man alive? One, please!”

All My Kids Alum Chrishell Stause: "That Prospect Park Thing Was Such a Disaster"!

All My Children alum Chrishell Stause doesn't hold back when it comes to Prospect Park's deal to revive the cancelled sudser from folding. The actress talked to TVLine regarding her guest appearance on Body Of Proof this Tuesday and shared where she felt things went astray.

TVLINE | You landed Body of Proof immediately after All My Children wrapped. Did that inform your decision to not sign on for Prospect Park’s online plan? Were you like, “I have some options here”?

No. To be honest with you, that Prospect Park thing was such a disaster. They came to people and gave one offer, and when it came time to renegotiate they never came back to the table. It wasn’t the actors that weren’t trying to make something work.

TVLINE | Were you also skeptical that it would ever come to pass?

I was always open to doing it as long as I could do it while doing other things. I certainly didn’t want [Prospect Park to have] exclusivity. I know how devoted the fans are, and if we could have made that work, it would have been great to do it. I’ve done a web series before, so I thought I could swing it and other projects on the side, but then I just never heard back. [Prospect Park has since abandoned its plan to take AMC and One Life to Live online.]

Bree Williamson Shoots Down General Hospital Rumors!

One Life to Live's Bree Williamson set the record straight on Twitter regarding rumors she is heading to General Hospital. According to Williamson:

General Hospital Among Conservatives, Republicans Least Favorite TV Shows!

The GOP isn't too fond of the saga of a dimpled mobster, his various wives and baby mamas on ABC Daytime. According to a report compiled by Experian-Simmons for Entertainment Weekly, General Hospital ranks among conservatives and Republicans least favorite television programs.

The report goes on to reveal CBS Daytime's long-running game show The Price is Right isn't big among liberals and Democrats.

Executive Producer Idris Elba Enters the Webisoap Game With Mad Sexy 'Milk + Honey'!

Soap fans may be losing Jesse and Angie on All My Children and the Evans and Delgado clans on One Life to Live, but we're gaining a myriad of sleek, sexy, urban web soap operas featuring people of color. A-list actor Idris Elba is the latest to jump into the webisoap game by serving as executive producer of Brown Paper Dolls Production's new sudser Milk + Honey.

Milk + Honey is the steamy, continuing confection of Nia (Asha Kamali), Samirah (Yaani King) and Harper (Shauntay Hinton), three best friends trying to make it do what it do in Los Angeles. Nia, a junior advertising executive and aspiring actress, has been in love with investment banker/up and coming record producer Will (Lance Gross) since childhood.

Spiritual-yet-spirited disc jockey/photog and Ivy League grad Samirah has an intense tutorial session on the vinyl with Haitian-American soccer hunk Jace (Passions alum Charles Divens), could it lead to more? Meanwhile, ambitious, cunning Harper has plans to become a major Hollywood power broker one day, that is if she can manage to impress rainmaker entertainment lawyer Jonathan (Bryce Wilson).

Also appearing in Milk + Honey is the legendary Debbie Allen, as famed actress-turned-teacher Eva Monroe, who puts Nia through her paces at an exclusive acting class.

Deidre Hall and Sarah Brown Get Wicked!

Days of Our Lives’ Deidre Hall and Sarah Brown popped up at the opening night of Wicked at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, CA on December 1.

The popular production's limited engagement runs through January 29.

Eddie Alderson Tweets Pic of Sad, Empty One Life to Live Studio!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words; in this case try the tears of almost 3 million fans. One Life to Live star Eddie Alderson tweeted a picture of the soap's former NYC studio, which has now been gutted for some sure-to-be craptastic ABC program.

How depressing is it to see a space that once housed daytime's best series, removed of all traces of Llanview, PA.?

Bree Van De Camp to Check Out Cameron Mathison's Thong on Desperate Housewives!

Cameron Mathison fans, get ready for the hunky All My Children star to take a trip to Wistera Lane! Mathison recently tweeted he will be doing a guest stint on Desperate Housewives. The actor went on to tell ABC Soaps In Depth his character will have a fling with Bree (Marcia Cross).

According to Mathison:

I play one of Bree's lovers. We have a couple of fun scenes. I really loved working with her. She is very kind and generous.

Look for Mathison's episode to air Jan 2012.

The View to Salute One Life to Live on January 13!

Get your hankies ready, on January 13 The View will salute One Life to Live’s 43 years on air with a special episode, co-hosted by Erika Slezak.

OLTL creator Agnes Nixon will also appear on the show, which will feature behind-the-scenes footage from OLTL’s final days and interviews with your favorite stars.

The View plans to announce which other OLTL stars will appear in the coming days.

OLTL SNUBBED while GH, AMC, Y&R Grab WGA Nods?!

You can't fight city hall, or for this industry to ever make a lick of sense.

The 2012 Writers Guild of America (WGA) Award nominations came out today and while The Young and The Restless, All My Children and General Hospital all received nods, the best soap in daytime in 2011—One Life to Live—was snubbed.

While I am still trying to find out what each show submitted to the Guild, I hear OLTL picked an entry revolving around their stellar teen bullying/suicide arc. I would love to know what Y&R submitted, considering that soap was an utterly unwatchable hot, stank mess for most of 2011.

GH, amid a creative burnout of gnarly proportions, was also hard to watch this past year, while AMC improved slightly with the late-in-the-game returns of creator Agnes Nixon and head writer Lorraine Broderick. OLTL truly has been the Rodney Dangerfield of this friggin genre.

Bryan Dattilo Returns to Days Of Our Lives!

Soap Opera Digest is reporting Bryan Dattilo has officially come home to Salem. According to SOD, Dattilo will be back on Days Of Our Lives in February 2012.

Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng stated:

We are very excited Bryan Dattilo, who has been greatly missed on the show, is back in Salem. The reset of DAYS is about bringing core families back together, rekindling old romances, and sparking new ones.

Dear Prospect Park, Poop or Get Off The Crapper!

Okay, soap fans, here we go again! Is the "suspension" of Prospect Park's involvement with ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN really permanent? Or is this just a temporary roadblock? According to this article in today's Variety, hope is not lost.

Prospect Park, the production company that licensed digital rights to the soaps from ABC, has continued to hold meetings with other parties exploring options for keeping them going online, according to sources familiar with discussions.

While the discussions were characterized as preliminary, one of the options Prospect Park is said to be considering is bringing in an overseas firm to turn the shows into a co-production. That may or may not allow the shows to circumvent the unions, which couldn't come to terms with Prospect Park on compensation for talent on both sides of the camera.

Even though Prospect Park signaled they were no longer pursuing the soaps, they still retain the digital rights that ABC licensed to them that last for a full year after those shows end on ABC. That gives the firm the ability to exercise those rights up until September 2012 for "AMC" and January 2013 for "OTL."

Soap Classics Will Hit Store Shelves Soon!

In addition to ordering online through the company’s website or Amazon.com, fans will soon be able to buy episodes right off store shelves.

Classic episodes of AS THE WORLD TURNS and GUIDING LIGHT will hit store shelves next year.

“We’ve been talking to re-sale partners who can have these releases and others on store shelves next year,” the company’s president, Mark Yates, told World Turns TV. “We’re working toward an aggressive release schedule. The GUIDING LIGHT is our next big release, and then we will turn to the other shows.”

In addition to WORLD TURNS and GUIDING LIGHT, the company also licensed the rights to other soap icons including Search For Tomorrow, ANOTHER WORLD, The Edge of Night and Texas.

Logistics have been one of the biggest challenges in producing the themed DVD box sets, Yates said. BVDM Distribution not only has to locate the content within its archives, but also remove background music or delete scenes that might violate copyright laws.

But the response has been so overwhelming that the company will continue to produce the box sets, at least for World Turns and Guiding Light.

While fans will begin seeing DVD sets for GUIDING LIGHT early next year, the other shows, including THE EDGE OF NIGHT and SEARCH FOR TOMORROW, are candidates for online-only distribution because audiences aren’t as large, Yates said. Still, he added, something will be available from all of the shows by the end of 2012.

B&B Joins Forces with United Friends of the Children for Special Episodes Next Week!!

Three-time consecutive Daytime Emmy Award-winning, The Bold and the Beautiful, adds another page to their history book of bringing public awareness to serious social issues as they join forces with United Friends of the Children (UFC) for two very special episodes to air on Tuesday, December 13 and Wednesday, December 14, 2011.

“Through our partnership with UFC, we are able to alert our viewers to the predicament facing our nation’s young adults who have aged out of the foster care system”, says B&B’s Executive Producer and Head Writer, Bradley P. Bell. “It is also another step in the journey of the character of ‘Stephanie Forrester’ to continue to keep her promise to help those less fortunate than herself.”

In these stand-alone episodes, Beverly Hills socialite and matriarch of one of the country’s most successful fashion houses, “Stephanie Forrester” (portrayed by multi-Daytime Emmy Award-winner Susan Flannery), along with “Hope Logan” (portrayed by Kim Matula), follows former foster child, “Beverly” (portrayed by Gina Rodriguez), and “Dayzee Leigh” (portrayed by Kristolyn Lloyd) to the transitional living facility that “Beverly” has been living in ever since she aged out of California’s foster care system. At this home, known as “Pathways”, Stephanie and Hope meet with real-life residents of the facility and listen to stories about how they have been coping with life after foster care with the assistance of United Friends of the Children.

Hillary B. Smith tweets her sadness as she packed her things!

December 9th, is the final day for the cast to clear out their dressing rooms and belongings.

Hillary’s touching tweets stated, “I am awake and dreading today. It is the day I move the last of my stuff from the dressing room and say good by to my family. I will roll my stuff unaided through the audience waiting in line to see The View like a discarded lover when she has been all used up.”

“After 20 years of caring and bleeding for this show. I feel dismissed. Like we are all being told, “Move along. Nothing to see here.”

“Have to share the morning. Walked in, through and passed all the audience lining up for The View. It hit me… I will be doing the “Walk of Shame” leaving the building pushing and carrying all of my belongings past the sad looks of the audience. I walked into wardrobe to say “Good-Bye” and burst into tears! After hugging, all 5 walked in my dress room, grabbed my things. Your not alone. They walked me through the crowd like an entourage, helped me load the car and hugged, kissed and waved me “Good-Bye”. True Friends! It makes you realize, the little gestures in life are like the arms of a conductor, they bring music to your soul. The lightest touch leaves the deepest imprint. Even a passing courtesy can make someone’s day. This morning will be forever a memory of love.”

CBS Year In Review Extravaganza!!

As 2011 draws to a close, our editors have put together a special issue highlighting the best and worst of the year! Now on sale, the new CBS Soaps In Depth features our annual Year In Review recaps for THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, as well as our Top 5 picks for each soap. Plus, when we asked the stars of CBS Daytime to reveal their favorite moments from 2011, we received so many answers that they wouldn't all fit in the magazine! Luckily for you, we're posting their responses right here!

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL

SCOTT CLIFTON (Liam)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"The whole Aspen thing, especially everything from Hope and Liam getting engaged, so Steffy and Liam getting married. It's been really interesting to play. I've had to play it really carefully, because there are a lot of ways you can mess that up. And I had to play Liam really carefully, because you don't want Liam looking like a bad guy, but there are moments when he's going to be a bad guy! He's going to make really stupid, unethical decisions. But by virtue that it was a challenge, it was really intriguing. I really, really enjoyed it. And plus, I got to make out with two hot chicks at the same time!"

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"The Bill/Steffy/Katie triangle. Heather [Tom, Katie] is unbelievable. She just knocked that whole storyline out of the park. She was so good and so raw, and I can't even imagine watching that story and not having your empathy 100 percent go to her. And of course, Bill was in the middle of this, and it was really interesting to watch him try to balance these two women in this affair, and trying to do the right thing and be honest in the end. He was cheating and manipulative, but that combination of those three interacting with each other was so smart. I really enjoyed it."

Was there a performance or a storyline on another show that stood out to you this year?

"That's a great question, and we should have answers to it. I really regret not watching the ends of GL, ATWT and AMC, just to see how they were resolved. They had characters on there for so long."

ZACK CONROY (Oliver)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"I really enjoyed the Veterans Day story. It was fun meeting those people, and I had some pretty cool experiences. That was fun. Storyline wise, it was kind of funny to see Oliver proposing to Hope. That was funny."

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"I liked the island stuff with Thomas and Brooke. That was cool. It was cool how they shot on the beach, and I think it would be cool to do. I enjoyed watching it."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"We have so many great actors on the show, but Adam Gregory (Thomas) has really come into his own this year. He's done a great job handling the load of being part of the main family."

Was there a performance or a storyline on another show that stood out to you this year?

"Marcy Rylan (Abby, Y&R) is doing a great job! Every time I turn on Y&R, she's killing it. She's one of my good friends and played my sister on my last show (GUIDING LIGHT), so I try to keep up. The way that she can play not pregnant when she's really pregnant is great! This was the second time around, and she was even doing it better."

DON DIAMONT (Bill)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"Liam being in the hospital. I thought that all was great, and of course, Katie with the heart attack. We saw Bill in a way that you almost never see him. And I like the fun stuff too, a lot of the Bill and Liam stuff."

ADAM GREGORY (Thomas)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"I really enjoyed our plane crash. That was a lot of fun, because they let me do some different things and we got to experience a whole new side of Thomas, so that was fun. Not a lot of people get to develop a character in a time of crisis or trying to be the hero, so that was interesting to try to play with."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"Susan [Flanery, Stephanie] wows me a lot, but I do like John McCook (Eric). He has this way about him that is so nonchalant. He brings an elegance to the show, and it's just funny to see him in real life and see how goofy and dorky he is, and then all of a sudden, he goes and plays my grandfather, who is such an elegant man. I can't take him seriously! But he'll throw a comedic performance in there every once in a while that reads really well and gives his character a lot of depth, for me."

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"The Aspen thing was cool. The footage looked great up there. It was beautifully done, and it captured Aspen very well. And everybody says it was a lot of fun, so I was pretty jealous."

Was there a performance or a storyline on another show that stood out to you this year?

"I wouldn't know any of the character names, but just being here on set, it's always interesting to watch the Y&R people do their thing. Their type of characters are on the opposite side of the spectrum, I think. It's very, how do I put it, gritty. It's extremely gritty, everything that they do, and I like the grittiness of their work. Christian LeBlanc [Michael] is great. He's funny. He plays such a cool bad guy who's smart with an attitude."

KATHERINE KELLY LANG (Brooke)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"The beach story. It was the only real story I've been involved in! And my dress had one, tiny little rip in it, and I went, 'That's it? After that horrific ordeal?' so I ripped it more myself!"

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"The scenes with Thomas. I had so much fun doing those, and I saw him come out as a different person, not just Thomas at Forrester. He kind of wowed me, and he showed up one day and [had such a deep voice in the scene], and I went, "What? Who are you?" and he's like, "I started taking voice classes!" And it was really cute; he was into getting better in every way possible, and he started taking these voice classes, had one lesson, and all of a sudden, his voice became commanding and self-assertive and all that stuff. So I thought he was really good. He was really putting himself into it all."

KIM MATULA (Hope)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"The Hope and Liam love struggle has been very prominent. They were always breaking up and getting back together, and they've had a very epic love story. It's definitely something I've never done before as far as storyline goes, and you always have to find something to pull from when you're doing the scenes, and that can be challenging when it's something you've never experienced in real life or never played on a show before. It's all brand new."

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"The berries! The magic berries, that was interesting. The episodes were pretty magical."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"Jacqueline MacInnes Wood had a really great performance where Bill told Steffy that he was going back to Katie and that he was for sure leaving her. That was a really good scene on Jacquie's part."

Was there a performance or a storyline on another show that stood out to you this year?

"I'm going to say, even though I didn't watch it, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall) went back and did an episode of ALL MY CHILDREN, and I'm a big fan of hers. So I'm sure whatever she did was great!"

JOHN MCCOOK (Eric)

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"I liked that standard story that Amber was doing, pretending the baby was somebody else's when it wasn't. That was good. It's classic soap, but you do it again, and you do it again, and you do it again, but with different people, because it works."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"I think that Bill Spencer is a really good addition to our show. In my life of the show, he's very recent. He has been here a couple years at least, but that's a new addition to me. I think he's really good, because he's a good bad guy. He does a great job, Don Diamont, at being this nasty Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R) kind of guy, and yet he has great vulnerability with his wife. He plays a really well-rounded character, so I have to give him a lot of props for that. And I think any story he's been involved in has been really good."

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

PETER BERGMAN (Jack)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"There's been a plethora of great moments. I have to say it's been great fun exploring this thing with Genie Francis (Genevieve). She and I are genuine veterans of this thing and our paths somehow didn't cross until now. That's been kind of fun for me to connect with her. It's been a fun journey."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"I barely know her, but Jessica Collins, who plays Avery, does a great job. She stepped right in and didn't miss a beat. They gave her bucket loads of legalese and she knocked it out of the park each and every time."

SHARON CASE (Sharon)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"My character getting out of jail and getting her life back."

JUDITH CHAPMAN (Gloria)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"I'm having so much fun with Michael Starr (Angelo) and Diana [DeGarmo], the daughter Angelina. It's just too fun and cute for words. I love where Sharon Stone's character in Casino goes up to Joe Pesci's character and says, 'I need a new sponsor.' I'm so digging that Gloria has a new sponsor!"

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"Cane getting killed on the church steps -- I thought everybody stepped up to bat on that one. The special effects were good. The whole thing, Christel [Khalil, Lily] on the stairs... I enjoyed watching that."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"To see my wonderful friend and fellow [Palm Springs] desert rat, Tristan Rogers make an appearance as the evil Colin! He was wonderful. I wished that I could have worked more with him, but being locked in the cellar was one of the highlights of the year for me. Watching him... he's damn funny. He played great evil, too!"

DANIEL GODDARD (Cane)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"Having Cane get a mum and a dad, and filling in a lot of the gray areas in Cane's background and life."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"Tristan Rogers (Colin). I really like the stuff he did. He's a great actor. And Billy [Miller, Billy] is always really good. I like everything he does."

BRYTON JAMES (Devon)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"I'm Mrs. Chancellor's grandson! I found myself related to the staple character on the show."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"There are so many amazing actors on our show. The stuff that I saw between Stephen Nichols (Tucker) and Peter Bergman (Jack) have been amazing and great."

Was there a performance or a storyline on another show that stood out to you this year?

"I don't watch other soaps but I can always say -- because he's one of my favorite soap actors -- Maurice Bernard (Sonny, GENERAL HOSPITAL) is amazing. He's a great actor. Anything that he's done this year, I'm going to say has been great!"

KATE LINDER (Esther)

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"I liked the whole 'Who Killed Diane' mystery. It was great. I didn't know who did it. Or I didn't think I did it!"

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"Everybody in our cast is so incredibly talented. Of course, my TV daughter Elizabeth [Hendrickson, Chloe] did an incredible job when Delia was ill. Amelia [Heinle, Victoria] and Billy [Miller, Billy] did an incredible job with their storyline. They're all fabulous actors."

Was there a performance or a storyline on another show that stood out to you this year?

"I think Heather Tom (Katie, B&B) is phenomenal. I like everybody over at B&B. She was amazing in the martial conflict scenes with Don Diamont (Bill.) He's done a fabulous job, too. I thought of them as their previous roles Victoria and Brad on Y&R for so long, but they've done a great job of really inhabiting their B&B characters."

JULIA PACE MITCHELL (Sofia)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"I think everyone is wonderful, but I love when I work with Stephen Nichols (Tucker)." Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"I really liked the storyline with Devon/Katherine/Harmony/Tucker."

JOSHUA MORROW (Nick)

Other than your own, what do you think was your show's best storyline this year?

"I loved when Adam had to come down the church belfry, down the bells, and come in and surprise us in church for Sharon's funeral. That's more of a scene, but I loved it. Michael [Muhney, Adam] wasn't athletic to do it himself so he needed a stunt double to do that... but that's another story."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"Both Billy [Miller, Billy] and Amelia [Heinle, Victoria]... I really like them together. I thought what they did was great."

STEPHEN NICHOLS (Nick)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"Tucker's struggle with his lifelong modus operandi and trying to change for the one he loves, namely Ashley. Eileen [Davidson] and I had some enjoyable scenes together from the hospital up to the present. She is an amazing acting partner. In addition to my stuff with Eileen, the story I am currently involved in now -- finding my son -- has been some of the best I have seen in a long time."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"Anything Jeanne Cooper [Katherine] was involved in."

MICHELLE STAFFORD (Phyllis)

What was the highlight of the year for you, storyline wise?

"I really liked playing the adoption where Phyllis took the baby away. I disagreed with that personally. But it was very interesting to play something that I had a disagreement with."

What performance on your show do you think was a standout this year?

"I thought Graz [Michael Graziadei, Daniel] and Amelia [Heinle, Victoria] were really good with the adoption storyline."

With two surgically altered psychos running around at the same time, (Patty and Sarah), Victor’s heart transplant, numerous back from the dead, Adam, Chance, and Skye, Jill/Lauren’s suddenly sisters and a campy death by volcano, the venerable soap was navigating through rough waters.. Unfortunately, 2011 didn’t real boast much improvement with the year coming to a close and a laundry list of tepid tales that became an exercise in tedium to watch, there’s just no more ignoring the glaring gaps in consistently credible, attention worth storytelling. Yes, there were gems, such as drunk Nikki, Phyllis’s thorn in her side sister, and reunited couples (Cane/Lily and Billy/Victoria) but those were eclipse by head scratchers like Sharon’s respectability destroying romance with Adam(which produced the snooziest murder trial---twice) the oh so overused soap device of the reproductively challenge couple and a black market baby, Victor implausible losing his company to three entitled brats, Jana falling off her rocker, ho-hum love triangle Neil/Sofia/Malcolm), Jill leaving her brains at the door to romp with an known crime lord, a serpentine murder mystery that we would rather have go away than be solved, and a bloated cast that left some favorites sidelined. There was just too much wrong to outweigh the right. In the current soap climate, its more important than ever to main a sense of stability and identity. For 2012, Y &R needs to go back to basics, dial down the overblown larger than life scenarios and let human drama take center stage again to worthy of being called #1.
