Kim Zolciak: fake bitch, can't haggle

An ONTD exclusive? Hell yes, it is.

As you've all already read, Kim Zolciak made a seemingly out-of-character good decision this weekend: when she got married, she bought a used wedding dress. Hey, in this economy, none of us can be mad at that, right? All the gossip sites, including this one, are reporting that she has a $58,000 dress, but I noticed that none actually say what she paid. Needless to say,  I got to sleuthin' (it's Friday, I have no life, do not judge me even for a moment).

What size dress did Kim buy?
Who was the previous bride who spent such a stupid about of money on a freaking dress you wear one damned time?
And what kind of deal did Kim get?

Kim bought the size 2 dress for full asking price.  She bought a used dress with zero haggling (which is the custom if you peruse around the site).  Despite spending more time than I care to admit searching for it, I can't find the "new" price for the Baracci dress in question.

And finally, the website also did a feature on the bride who sold the dress- a beautiful woman named Janice who had a lovely wedding but makes really poor financial decisions.

She vaguely looks like a prettier Octomom, y/y?

Her maid of honor is her twin sister and she is wearing one of those light-blocking curtains that you put in a theater room

Someone's trying to upstage the bride with her Kardashian-esque armpit pose

NGL, the groom and get it. Definitely more so than Kroy.

Not sure, but I know for DAMN sure I'm not going to pay more than a couple hundred dollars, and/or make it myself. I've yet to see a dress that I know is "the one," but I've thought of doing a black dress, tea length, with a full tulle skirt, and a crimson sash around the waist. Tradition, schmadition.
diosabellissima Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 08:24 am (UTC)
Do what you want, bb!

Personally, I think this whole used wedding dress website is a brilliant idea when used correctly. I was searching around it earlier and they regularly sell rather expensive fancy dresses for well under $1000. Then they even have the nice, but regular David's Bridal stuff for like, seriously under $200. Why in God's name would *anyone* spend $10k plus on a dress when there are options like this (or even if there weren't options like this?)?
deftonedpiano Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 08:26 am (UTC)
Oh where's that gif of the one Real Housewife pointing to her $25,000 sunglasses -- that's why people do shit like that. Because... because... I don't know. If I had $25,000 to spend as I choose, I'd spend about $15 on sunglasses and probably do a lot of cool/charitable/fun/diverse stuff with the rest.
mistyraven Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 08:27 am (UTC)
I think I'd kind of like to design my own dress tbh, but I'd have to learn how to sew and shit if I wanted to make it myself. I've done sketches before, but it's not like I'm anywhere near getting married so I've got time, lol. It definitely wouldn't be anything crazy complicated though.
numbedtoe Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 08:31 am (UTC)
seconding the do what you want. My family has teased me saying I'd probably end up with a black dress because well, I wear a lot a lot of black. I have to admit I love the Marlena Dietrich tux look.

but honestly with my coloring, white looks terrible on me. I look like I'm dying in the color. So white dresses are out. Period.

I do however look fantastic in red, so that's the color I think I'd go with. Silver is nice too. I tend to like wedding dresses that are plain and not to frou frou. I don't like a lot of beading and lace and ruffles. Bows are great if you like 'em. I think they're just wrong. lol

I think I'd for for tea length or even ankle, but straight skirt. Big bell skirts just don't look good on me. No empire waists either, I look awful in them.

I've never found the dress either, but then I haven't found anyone I want to marry either so... lol

I have planned out my whole wedding (lol) except my dress. I honestly don't know what kind of dress I can wear cause I plan on getting married in this little island in the Philippines.
hunnichild Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 08:45 am (UTC)
Yup, either of these two or something like it since they might not be around by the time I get married as I'm single as fuck.

trikc Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 08:59 am (UTC)
this wont be for everyone but I have a love affair with the 18th century.

Also, this is McQueen so it's well out of my price range. but I'll find something like it.

yes lol, i have my whole wedding planned out in my head already. the dress i want is by reem acra. it's originally 7k but I see you can get it for 4k on that site. great deal imo.

omg and it's in a size that could fit me with a little altering... is it weird to buy a wedding dress without even being engaged? please advice.

Something like this Alexander McQueen dress, but much more tame.

I either want something sort of modern with a structure--like this Angel Sanchez dress:

or this (if the groom let me run wild with a historical theme, haha)

I've always loved lace, so I'd want something similar to this style

But I think these are interesting styles too, and definitely less traditional:
juteux Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 10:11 am (UTC)
if i get married i would get a vintage dress, or a dress that's not technically a "wedding" dress but still works. there are lots of white formal gowns out there, but once they slap the "wedding" label on it the price shoots up. also, j crew has adorable wedding and bridesmaids dresses.
juteux Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 10:13 am (UTC)
the other option is joining the dark side and getting someone to make me a copy of kate's dress, which is entirely plausible.
clockspiders Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 10:17 am (UTC)
If I get married (big if) I just want to have something really small. So, I actually really liked Sofia Coppola's dress. It's simple but pretty and feminine at the same time.
mrsarigold Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 11:22 am (UTC)
From the moment I saw this I've always wanted to wear something like this:

starchain Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 11:23 am (UTC)
I wore a short white dress with bright yellow details at the city hall ceremony and a replica of a movie wedding dress for the church ceremony.
They were awesome. My mother made me try a thousand dresses and none of them were me, so I made my own.
sasperilla Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 11:56 am (UTC)
My sister found her dress but then it turned out the wife of the french president wanted it as well but the dress maker gave it to my sister because she said the president's wife was already married. Cool story.

(Deleted my last two comments to make them into one long one instead)

I'm about to start searching for a wedding dress. I thought about tea-length but I suit pale colours anyway so I'll probably go with cream or champaigne or whatever and be basic.

I like these by Justin Alexander:

Mine was a tea-length ivory cocktail dress trimmed with black lace that I got at Dillard's for $45. It did such great things for my figure, and I wore it on my honeymoon, too.
vanilla_blue Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 02:55 pm (UTC)
I also want a tea length dress. I didn't have a wedding for my first marriage so I want a pretty white dress for my second. I saw one I like on Etsy:http://www.etsy.com/listing/43340759/tea-length-wedding-dress-retro-style but I would make some changes to it.
fusilli_head Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 03:10 pm (UTC)
So cliche but my wedding dress is going to be a more modern version of the striped dress that Helena Bonham Carter wore in Sweeney Todd.

A Monique L'Hullier dress. I love her esthetic
forgethissmile Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 05:49 pm (UTC)
I wore this one for my wedding. Paid ~$1350 for it (probably $2000 when you include alterations, and then the post-wedding repair and clean):

(Btw that's my brother-in-law attempting to teach me salsa, with my husband stepping in like, "Yeah, let ME do this!")

Not planning on ever getting married, so I can pick whatever I want, regardless of price tag or how I would actually look in it.

This McQueen would be it all the way for me:

___heyvanity Re: Do you know what dress you want for your wedding, ONTD? 12th-Nov-2011 08:37 pm (UTC)
I wore a read dress... not a gown, but I had a really small wedding. It was floor length and had some beading around the waist.

so she's not cheap [like Nene, who feels the need to talk down the price of a used Dodge and then brags about paying cash] and doesn't mind just paying full price? idg the problem
diosabellissima 12th-Nov-2011 08:31 am (UTC)
Why buy a used dress if you're going to pay full price? Why not just get a new dress at that point?

If I got some Loubs at the Salvation Army, everybody would (and should) be patting me on the back. If I paid $1500 for a pair of used Loubs at the Salvation Army, everybody better smack me upside the head.

i also think of how even tho she may be a gold digger, she isn't cheap. i recall in the first season when that girl who was married to that football player that didnt get hired the next season or something threw that auction she was the only one who busted out the $$$$$ even if it was big papa's to buy some bling while everyone else was tacky as fuck and claimed they were rich and only looked at prices and did nothing for charityyyyyyy
misscrystal 12th-Nov-2011 09:38 am (UTC)
Eh, not necessarily. Nene may be "frugal" but that is what separates the rich from the wealthy. The fact that Kim spends money like water on items that are NOT quality (lbr, that dress is tacky as a Vegas showgirl's bedazzled vag) tells me she has no taste or sophistication.

On the car thing, my dad drives a Porsche and my mom drives a Lexus. Lexus drivers tend to be "rich". Anytime I'm at the dealership with my mom, it's nothing but LV bags and $400 shades on the other customers. OTOH, the "wealthy" customers at the Porsche dealership, are sooo low-key, that you would NEVER know they are rich if you saw them outside of a Porsche dealership.
