300 year old Succession Law changed
Sons and daughters of any future UK monarch will have equal right to the throne, after Commonwealth leaders agreed to changed succession laws.
The leaders of the 16 Commonwealth countries where the Queen is head of state unanimously approved the changes at a summit in Perth, Australia.
It means a first-born daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will take precedence over younger brothers.
The ban on the monarch being married to a Roman Catholic was also lifted.
Under the old succession laws, dating back more than 300 years, the heir to the throne is the first-born son of the monarch. Only when there are no sons, as in the case of the Queen's father George VI, does the crown pass to the eldest daughter.
Announcing the changes had been passed, Prime Minister David Cameron said they would apply to descendants of the Prince of Wales. They will not be applied retrospectively.
"Put simply, if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were to have a little girl, that girl would one day be our queen," he said.
"The idea that a younger son should become monarch instead of an elder daughter simply because he is a man, or that a future monarch can marry someone of any faith except a Catholic - this way of thinking is at odds with the modern countries that we have become."

The Duchess opted for a ‘half up, half down’ hairdo, which revealed a three inch scar, close to her hairline.
To put a quick end to rumours regarding what the scar could be, a spokesman at St James’s Palace confirmed: “The scar related to a childhood operation.”
Keen to keep the matter private, senior royal sources told the Daily Mail it had been “a very serious operation”, but refused to comment any further.

The best way to change things is to change things. Besides, this wouldn't in all likelihood, have an effect for decades, since you have Charles and then William to get through.
But remember that 40 years ago, most men were probably uncomfortable with their wives even having jobs. Today, very few guys are looking for a housewife and many, if not most, prefer goal-oriented and ambitious women.

They have drawn up a list of nine dating back 1689 - but they admit it may not be exhaustive.
One problem is that male primogeniture - which gives younger brothers the right to become monarchs ahead of their elder sisters - is based on many centuries of common law rules of property, not any one piece of legislation.
Legislation being looked at includes: the Bill of Rights 1689, the Act of Settlement 1701, the Coronation Oath Act 1689, the Act of Union with Scotland 1706, Princess Sophia's Precedence Act 1711, the Royal Marriages Act 1772, the Union with Ireland Act 1800, the Accession Declaration Act 1910 and the Regency Act 1937.
oh Lord.

The UK was slow to change, many of the continental Royal Houses have done this already.
But I'm sure they would have changed it had Diana/Charles had girls
