L'oreal Lightens Up Freida Pinto

L’Oreal did it again. First they lightened up Beyonce and now Freida pinto for there new ad campaign. This is the first photo released from Freida’s ad campaign for L'oreal Colors. Do you think L’Oreal needs to stop whitewashing its stars?

MTE. I would believe them if they said it was lighting tbh. I am Asian and I have medium brown skin but I look almost White in the sun. Not completely, but you know. So dramatic.
wauwy 23rd-Sep-2011 03:54 pm (UTC)
What is aspect ratio?
stellawuzadiver 23rd-Sep-2011 03:57 pm (UTC)
Damn, they stretched out her face too?

Boycott!
andres01234 23rd-Sep-2011 04:20 pm (UTC)
it doesn't look so different, it's probably just the lighting
fabouluz 23rd-Sep-2011 04:46 pm (UTC)
Your photo is fuked up girl. Aspect ratio. :)
simplychristina 23rd-Sep-2011 04:48 pm (UTC)
Exactly, it's called light. Not sayig this doesn't happen, because it does, but this case didn't really seem like it.

xsnickerzzx 23rd-Sep-2011 03:43 pm (UTC)
i think sarah is really pretty. i just hate that she plays a character with a white father when it was so obvious to me that this lady wasn't white.

also it's the makeup industry. all fashion and grooming ads are an illusion anyway.

Skin bleaching is bad, though.
treebraids 23rd-Sep-2011 03:45 pm (UTC)
so is tanning and white people do it, therefore your reasoning is invalid.

beatlesluv 23rd-Sep-2011 03:49 pm (UTC)
Skin bleaching IS BAD. Your lighting argument I can get on board with, but NOT the bleaching.

At least one person got and I got a "lol"...posts like this always get those types of badly thought out comments and inevitably leads to me having a *head desk* moment.

lol stop with the, 'WHITE PPL TAN'. It's not the same thing at all. Two totally different contexts.

Context of systematic oppression in one case, no such context in the other.

"I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o'clock games," said Sosa, who turns 41 tomorrow. "The flashes (from the cameras) also made my skin look lighter. I'm surprised with the controversy this has caused."

yomommafoo 23rd-Sep-2011 03:33 pm (UTC)
yeah thats bad but it looks like its the lighting. look at the shine on her lips and reflected in her eyes. look at the shadow on her cheek and neck.
nastyposition 23rd-Sep-2011 03:53 pm (UTC)
Um no, it's pretty accurate. She's probably wearing light make-up and the sun/lighting WILL make you face appear lighter.
edwinaxmonsoon 23rd-Sep-2011 03:30 pm (UTC)
I think it's funny how people are like I don't like how this company does such and such....I'm boycotting their products.
You think that you not buying a $12 mascara every few months is seriously going to put Loreal out of business?

ot

she's kinda useless in rise of the planet of the apes imo
6a696c6c 23rd-Sep-2011 03:31 pm (UTC)
Love the eye-make up.

Do not love washing out her skin tone. Though it's not just this company.... I've seen a ton of her airbrushed photos and her skin is always lightened. Also her face lightens on its own under flashes.

Regardless, though, her skin is flawless...

leprince504 23rd-Sep-2011 03:33 pm (UTC)
I don't know if they whitewashed her in this campaign. everyone's skin is lighter under camera flash... and you can tell from the picture she had two huge white lights on her from different angles.
6a696c6c 23rd-Sep-2011 03:35 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I was thinking... with this type of close-up, those lights are right up on her
leprince504 23rd-Sep-2011 03:44 pm (UTC)
also they totally photoshopped her irises to be darker in the L'Oreal pic. compare them to this pic where's not as well lit or as close to the lights. the contrast makes her skin look lighter also.
affliction 23rd-Sep-2011 03:45 pm (UTC)
wow her skin is gorgeous.
kenzainfluenza 23rd-Sep-2011 04:02 pm (UTC)
OMFG she is so beautiful.
