Jessica Alba is 'Starving'

Jessica Alba is featured in Lucky Magazine this month (though the photo-shoot clearly took place many months ago) and she has quite a few interesting revelations. It seems that Jessica, whose figure is highly admired on our site, confessed that ‘it sucks’ to diet, starve and work out.

Post-partum girdle: “I wear a girdle around my tummy from the moment I give birth until it doesn’t feel loosely goosey anymore—that takes a good two to three months. It’s spandex with Velcro.”

No maternity clothes? “I generally don’t wear many maternity clothes…but I am wearing maternity pantyhose, because I can’t fit into the other ones.”

On her meal plan to shape up after the baby: “I have a hard time with portion control, so I have 1,200 calorie meals delivered. But I also work out, so basically I’m starving—it sucks. I drink a lot of water.”

On her post-baby workout: “Working out everyday for even just 45 minutes is good for my mental state. But getting dressed and actually doing it is the worst. It’s hard to get motivated.”

On why she likes to be distracted at the gym: “In the gym, I have like five things to distract me: TV, iPod, magazines. Working partners are good, too, so you can chat and not just drown in your own misery. Sorry, does that sound bad? I just hate working out.”

See 2 more shots from this issue next!

source

her advice is pretty sound... workout 45 minutes a day, eat less... it might beneficial to her if she upped her cal intake to more like 1500 / day imo if she feels like she is actually starving.

also mods, when r we going 2 get that 'weight loss / gain' tag???????

Jessica "do not call me Latina" Alba annoys me, tbh.

Doesn't mean she's not beautiful.
[info]rainbowchelita 3rd-Aug-2011 04:10 pm (UTC)
She's not latina...
Sofia Vergara is Latina :D
[info]fancypiink 4th-Aug-2011 01:55 am (UTC)
how is she not latina?
[info]heikaru 3rd-Aug-2011 04:03 pm (UTC)
Didn't she give birth like... forever ago?
[info]platinumpinup 3rd-Aug-2011 04:03 pm (UTC)
She's knocked up again.
[info]fruitariyum 3rd-Aug-2011 04:04 pm (UTC)
well she's pregnant again, so they probably were asking her how she lost weight before, and/or how she plans to do it again
[info]platinumpinup 3rd-Aug-2011 04:03 pm (UTC)
At least she's honest...
[info]henryevil 3rd-Aug-2011 04:06 pm (UTC)
ikr and not like some actresses who are like "Oh I eat double bacon cheeseburgers all the time what are you talking about?"
[info]obviously_not 3rd-Aug-2011 04:32 pm (UTC)
yeah seriously, yes dieting and working out are not fun. thank you for not posing like the rest of them. "I LOVE EATING NOTING AND WORKING OUT ALL DAY!" yeah right.
[info]boomstick 3rd-Aug-2011 04:40 pm (UTC)
Seriously.

"Oh I just snapped back even though I have chocolate cake for breakfast every daaaay"
[info]glamoroustype 3rd-Aug-2011 09:17 pm (UTC)
I hate the way female celebrities are expected to act like they eat whatever they want all the time, but still have to be really skinny. I like it when they admit that it's actually really hard work and totally sucks.
[info]bostongirl2003 4th-Aug-2011 06:33 pm (UTC)
I totally fell in love with Ali Larter when she said in an interview that at one point she had gained a few lbs while filming a movie, and the producers called her agent/manager to ask her to lose weight. I thought it was really candid and awesome of her to show what the industry is really like.
[info]fuckyess 4th-Aug-2011 08:57 am (UTC)
but saying she starves is stupid
[info]baboona 3rd-Aug-2011 04:03 pm (UTC)
i read that as 'retiring' at first
[info]dj_simma 3rd-Aug-2011 04:05 pm (UTC)
wishful thinking
[info]thaliaanto 3rd-Aug-2011 04:04 pm (UTC)
ehhhhh cool.
[info]katiefitch 3rd-Aug-2011 04:04 pm (UTC)
i just saw honey yesterday and that movie is horrendous
[info]raptureraptor 3rd-Aug-2011 04:06 pm (UTC)
lol I half watched it a few days ago when I was working on a project. Complete shit.
[info]lucky_latkes 3rd-Aug-2011 04:09 pm (UTC)
i always change the channel when it's on mtv. i can never take more than 5 minutes of it.
[info]cityxpretty 3rd-Aug-2011 05:33 pm (UTC)
I started to watch it a few times when it was on tv before, but 10 minutes into it I always say "nope, can't do this," and change the channel lol.
[info]lolita_applebum 6th-Aug-2011 03:46 pm (UTC)
I actually paid and sat through the whole thing in theaters =/
[info]roxi9 3rd-Aug-2011 04:05 pm (UTC)
She's so stupid it's almost unbelievable.
[info]michelleantonia 4th-Aug-2011 04:58 am (UTC)
lol MTE
[info]wits 3rd-Aug-2011 04:05 pm (UTC)
she is the definition of boring
[info]ectypes 3rd-Aug-2011 04:06 pm (UTC)
agreed
[info]sugary_placenta 4th-Aug-2011 10:04 pm (UTC)
i agree.
[info]takingthewalk 3rd-Aug-2011 04:05 pm (UTC)
I agree the worst part for me is changing into my gym clothes and going there. Once I'm actually at the gym I'm like let's rock this bitch.
[info]0sleep2dream0 3rd-Aug-2011 04:07 pm (UTC)
I don't understand why she doesn't have a personal gym then. She can afford it.

[info]takingthewalk 3rd-Aug-2011 04:09 pm (UTC)
IDK about her but I would not do that because there are too many distractions at my house, i'm sure my work-outs would suffer. At the gym the only thing to do is work out.
[info]false_hate 3rd-Aug-2011 04:09 pm (UTC)
Easy access to the paparazzi is my guess. Especially since she isn't working as much these days, even before the pregnancy.
[info]lollapoe 3rd-Aug-2011 04:12 pm (UTC)
I don't think that's the point though - she probably meant that it's a drag getting motivated to start exercising. The gym room in my building is on my floor, literally 2 doors away from my apartment, I still stall everyday when I think I have to exercise.
[info]frenchverbs 3rd-Aug-2011 04:52 pm (UTC)
I would love a personal gym if I could afford it. It'd be awesome.
[info]polarbearparty 3rd-Aug-2011 06:55 pm (UTC)
You don't need to be rich to have a home gym. I mean we're pretty middle class and have a treadmill, stationary bike, and an elliptical. You just gotta wait til there's amazing deals or check the paper for people selling gently used stuff.

I mean obv, she can prob afford really fancy nice stuff though haha I'm just saying
[info]overprotected 3rd-Aug-2011 04:29 pm (UTC)
The worst part for me is just starting. I change in to my gym clothes but then I just sit there... actually GETTING to the gym or getting up to do whatever i'm gonna do is the worst.

Once I start, I'm fine.
[info]blazinguns 3rd-Aug-2011 05:11 pm (UTC)
This is me. The sucky part is that I go running outside, and in current weather(too hot) can only do it past 9 PM so whole day is like "ugh I have to go running in the evening". But once I run, I even enjoy it.
[info]get_gone 3rd-Aug-2011 06:18 pm (UTC)
ITA when you're at work and all you want to do is go home and sit on the couch in PJs, but then when I'm at a class I'm always ~so happy
[info]hierarchia 4th-Aug-2011 07:18 pm (UTC)
ia. once i'm there i'm dying get started
[info]showmesara 4th-Aug-2011 09:20 pm (UTC)
I wish I was like that. I get anxiety from going to the gym. I go, change clothes, walk out to the machines and start crying and run back to change back into my regular clothes and flee the scene
[info]kayleia 7th-Aug-2011 05:59 pm (UTC)
I agree with this too. I swim every day but the hardest part is actually having the motivation to go. I make my husband push me out the door.
[info]raptureraptor 3rd-Aug-2011 04:05 pm (UTC)
If she hates working out at the gym, why is she planning on doing it? There are plenty of other ways to get exercise that she probably won't find "miserable".
[info]demi32 3rd-Aug-2011 04:05 pm (UTC)
I agree. My sister did the same thing when she was pregnant. She's a doctor so she was always fit after she gave birth. I see nothing wrong with what Jessica said.

I love Jessica and she seems like a loving wife and a good mommy. She always has Honor looking adorable and her family is lovely.

Can't wait to see her movie Spy Kids.
[info]ectypes 3rd-Aug-2011 04:05 pm (UTC)
stay active, portion control... staying fit is not that hard

dnw jessica alba dieting advice
[info]takingthewalk 3rd-Aug-2011 04:07 pm (UTC)
Staying fit is not that hard but I would argue that losing baby weight/any weight is a pain in the ass.
[info]edwinaxmonsoon 3rd-Aug-2011 04:18 pm (UTC)
hdu
Some of us have a thyroid condition, okkk???????
gawd
[info]eucalyptuses 3rd-Aug-2011 06:18 pm (UTC)
i once had a teacher who actually said that though
apparently, she was unable to lose the weight she wanted until summer LOL
[info]pandaklr 4th-Aug-2011 06:32 pm (UTC)
I actually do have a hypo-active thyroid. I don't blame it so much for me gaining weight (I think it may have indirectly had a part, but I still eat what I eat and do what I do), but I do for the total ungodly lack of energy I had for the longest time. I am talking barely being able to put the stuff I bought at Target away after spending an hour at the store... then sleeping for 12 hours. Luckily it's easy to treat and it shouldn't be a forever excuse for people and I never make it mine.

Sorry for the tl;dr rant.
[info]luvthatdrtywata 3rd-Aug-2011 04:18 pm (UTC)
no shit sherlock. people know HOW to get fit, that doesn't make the process fun, or even always possible, thus it is hard for a lot of people. if we go by your assumptions building a functioning rocket ship or cloning the human genome is easy if you have the directions. it's just not that simple for most people.
[info]boomstick 3rd-Aug-2011 04:41 pm (UTC)
It's usually hard after having a baby though. Your whole body goes crazy.
[info]cityxpretty 3rd-Aug-2011 05:39 pm (UTC)
It's not, but a lot of people (probably mostly Americans) like to take the easy way out. Diet soda and Skecher's Shape Ups will not get you fit.

Do those post-partum girdles really work?
[info]la_sikka Re: Yayay - weight wank?3rd-Aug-2011 04:34 pm (UTC)
they help constrict your muscles while your abdomen goes back to normal. I would think it helps.
[info]cityxpretty Re: Yayay - weight wank?3rd-Aug-2011 05:41 pm (UTC)
I think it mostly gets the water weight out. I would think having a big thing wrapped around your torso would help your posture too, which helps strengthen the abdomen.
[info]aleronihead Re: Yayay - weight wank?3rd-Aug-2011 06:27 pm (UTC)
IDK, but I would honestly try one. If you're taking your time and being healthy about losing the weight and exercising, I couldn't see a post-partum girdle being a bad idea.
[info]southernmanners Re: Yayay - weight wank?3rd-Aug-2011 10:24 pm (UTC)
i think its mostly to speed up your uterus to its normal size
[info]epouvante 3rd-Aug-2011 04:06 pm (UTC)
at least she's not giving some bs "it's my metabolism/working out is so much fun~" runaround.
[info]boomstick 3rd-Aug-2011 04:42 pm (UTC)
Seriously...my friend is dieting and she's all "OMG THIS HEALTH FOOD IS SO GOOD NOM NOM NOM" and I'm all "bitch you know you're lying, I have had those fake hot dogs and they taste like meat-flavored pudding wrapped in a tire"
[info]frenchverbs 3rd-Aug-2011 04:57 pm (UTC)
lol, I had fake breakfast sausage links last weekend and gagged. I am so mad I spent $5 on them all in the name of my diet.
[info]luvthatdrtywata 3rd-Aug-2011 05:04 pm (UTC)
with the exception of trader joe's soy corn dogs, those are even better than the real thing, tbh.
[info]makidah 3rd-Aug-2011 05:08 pm (UTC)
loool!!!!
[info]cityxpretty 3rd-Aug-2011 05:45 pm (UTC)
Fake meat probably sucks, same with all the pre-packaged diet food, but tbh healthy, fresh food tastes really good to me.
[info]aleronihead 3rd-Aug-2011 06:28 pm (UTC)
I've been eating turkey dogs for the past year, and a month ago I had a real Ball Park hot dog when my brother had a cook out. I forgot how good they were.

Then I went back to the turkey dogs. They're ok.
