Will Ferrell Visits SeaWorld San Diego

Will Ferrell gets a whale of a kiss from Nanuq, a 2,000-pound beluga whale, at SeaWorld San Diego's Wild Arctic attraction on July 19, 2011 in San Diego, California. Ferrell and his family spent the day interacting with dolphins, sea turtles, sea lions and other animals at the marine-life park.

Definitely my favorite whale of ALL time. Since I did a project on whales in the 4th grade. I am so green with envy... yet sad for the whales captivity. After seeing THE COVE I have mixed feelings about sea world.

I did a project on whales in the 3rd grade. I plagiarized the whole thing. I didn't know you weren't supposed to.

Yeah I have mixed feelings too now.

I haven't watched The Cove, but I've always felt quite sad for whales (or any animals) in captivity. They're so huge and have so little space! They should have the entire ocean to roam and in captivity they have pools to swim around in. :/ idk.

Agreed. I've seen The Cove, and also watched footage of whales who became depressed in aquariums, and just sort of gave up. Not such a fan of aquariums/zoos now :/

Watch it, it's such an incredible film. It inspired me so much that I planned a screening of the movie at my school and raised $300 for the cause.

the cove was the saddest shit ever but ia. i love aquariums though so i am so torn since they all seem kind of horrible for the animals.

for such a big company, i used to think sea world was pretty good at actually taking care of their animals. but now they don't even try to pretend it's not about putting on a show. :-( it's one thing to get them to jump on command, but quite another to choreograph a fucking musical number with like dozens of animals. such bullshit. you can see youtube vids of them crashing into each other. yeah, there's that magic i came to see. 0o

as a canadian, marineland is the park i know more. and in a reverse of sea world, i used to think marineland was kinda sketchy but when i visited last year i was really impressed. the belugas aren't trained to do anything but let guests pet them and vocalize, which was just as enchanting to me as any backflip or hoop jump. and at least the dolphins were moved to the orca tank so i felt they had more room. plus during the show, they didn't seem forced to do anything crazy except jump on the platform at the end and lift their tails. it just sucks that they import the belugas from russia cuz canada doesn't allow them caught from the wild anymore. *rage*
