Olivia Wilde Blasts Media For Focusing On Celebs

Actress Olivia Wilde has blasted America's tabloid media bosses for ignoring global problems and focusing on gossip about reality TV celebrities.

The Tron: Legacy star has taken aim at reporters for perpetuating a fascination with reality TV stars because today's youth aren't being educated on current affairs.

The beauty tells America's fashion publication Marie Claire, "I'd like to refocus everyone's attention away from the Kardashians and onto Doctors Without Borders or aid workers. Let's redefine scandal. Scandal is not who so-and-so is dating; scandal is the fact that 1.2 million people are still living in tents in Haiti, and cholera is rampant because Nepalese U.N. soldiers dumped s**t from their Porta-Potties (portable toilets) into the river.

"That's a f**king scandal. If the average 15 year old was hearing about that instead of so-and-so's plastic surgery or cheating in Hollywood, I'd feel better about our future."

of course it's up to them. but i think that, unless you've lived in a small town, it's hard to understand the mentality. if no one you are close to cares about certain things, it become easy to not see the value in it. i'm not going to go as far as to call it an epidemic, but there is definitely a herd mentality in humans. believe me, i heartily value education and the study of world politics/events, but i can understand why some people are indifferent. to them, it's outside of their world and thus out of mind.
