Omg just finished deathly hallows and this is making me tear up again :'/
_______awshucks 13th-Jul-2011 01:49 am (UTC)
the Natalie McDonald one :,(
juggarnut 13th-Jul-2011 01:50 am (UTC)
You know Harry Potter has been over since the last book came out. I like how fans are making the movies the official closing of the series.
asweetsymphony 13th-Jul-2011 01:53 am (UTC)

I got over it after book Deathly Hallows came out. I guess fans are acting this way because after the movies, there is really not much left for the HP fandom.
gonexforgotten 13th-Jul-2011 01:54 am (UTC)
I was just thinking about this. I remember mourning the end of the series when the books ended. But I think the end of the movies really just wraps up everything. In a way it just makes it more official. Even when the books ended I still had the movies to look forward to. A lot of people only bothered watching the movies, so I guess it's an ending for them.
aredhela 13th-Jul-2011 01:55 am (UTC)
People just wanted to last it for longer, don't blame them. The films, graphics and the whole franchise were keeping the fandom alive.
dmclaire 13th-Jul-2011 01:57 am (UTC)
well after the books ended it was exciting that we still had the movies but now there is nothing after this :(
onlyghosts 13th-Jul-2011 02:00 am (UTC)
lol I can see this happening all over again once we get a new adaptation and it ends.

I think a lot of people are mourning the end of this cast. That's why I'm sad, tbh.
adorealire 13th-Jul-2011 02:00 am (UTC)
I'm a really big fan of the movies, so for me, it feels like, yup it's totally over. Don't get me wrong, I was devasted after I finish the last book, but I've been watching the movies for so long. I was a movie fan before I was a book fan, so it makes it even more official.
brownxeyedxdork 13th-Jul-2011 02:04 am (UTC)
I like how fans are making the movies the official closing of the series.

But is that really a bad thing?
juggarnut 13th-Jul-2011 02:05 am (UTC)
I didn't say it was bad. That's why I like it!
permanentrain 13th-Jul-2011 01:50 am (UTC)
how early are you going to your midnight premieres?
i've never been to one i'm thinking line up at 10 at the latest?
katiefitch 13th-Jul-2011 01:52 am (UTC)
I usually aim to leave around 9:30 so I'm in line by 10 at the latest.
ellyrianna 13th-Jul-2011 01:53 am (UTC)
We went at 11 to the one in November. BIG mistake. We had to sit in like the second row from the front. Definitely going earlier this time.
gonexforgotten 13th-Jul-2011 01:56 am (UTC)
I went at 10:30 for Part 1. I live in a somewhat small town so while the theatre was packed, it wasn't completely impossible to find good seats.
caribou_cake 13th-Jul-2011 02:00 am (UTC)
ugh I need to know this too! I've never been a midnight showing of anything. The theater I'm seeing it isn't super fancy or anything, but the tickets are sold out for 3 showings.
x3raindropsx3 13th-Jul-2011 02:01 am (UTC)
around 7ish, I like being first in line because that's where you meet the coolest HP fans
yankgrrl0224 13th-Jul-2011 02:06 am (UTC)
i'll be there at like 7, haha.
dyl_obrien 13th-Jul-2011 02:17 am (UTC)
The fanclub is organizing sort of a little play, before the film, and there will be people dressed up as the characters, so you can take pcitures with them and all, so I think I'll be there quite early - 8:30pm, probably. (23 hours to go!)
likejesussaid 13th-Jul-2011 02:20 am (UTC)
uhhh it really depends if your theater is sold out
before reserved seatings became available here i used to go to the theater around 6:30.
xevochic 13th-Jul-2011 02:38 am (UTC)
I'm going to the mini marathon which starts at 9, so I'll probably be there (rereading DH) by like 5. lol
watermeloncholy 13th-Jul-2011 02:59 am (UTC)
I was thinking around 8, heh
stuckmodebabe 13th-Jul-2011 03:44 am (UTC)
8ish. I got there with my friend at 9:30 last year and the line...sweet jesus. I'm sure it will be long not matter what time but at least this time, we won't be the last people getting inside.
nschlongbottom 13th-Jul-2011 03:56 am (UTC)
8am for me. I got in line for part 1 at 10am-ish and there was so many people already in line.
iamghostqueen 13th-Jul-2011 07:09 am (UTC)
lol...last year i got there at 4. my friend psyched me out because she was like THEY OVERSOLD TICKETS so i was like FFFFFFUUUUUUUUU and rushed from school to the theater. this time, i'll probably get there...at the same time. lmao. except the theter randomly has assigned seating this time so i might not even NEED to get there hella early. we shall see.
superdogbiter 13th-Jul-2011 01:51 am (UTC)
awakejupiter 13th-Jul-2011 01:51 am (UTC)
Part 1 > Part 2

Also don't see it in 3D. Waste of money.
katiefitch How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 01:52 am (UTC)
This will be my 5th--GoF was the first one I was allowed to go to.
improved Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 01:56 am (UTC)
I think since POA? I was 16 then.
dyl_obrien Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 01:56 am (UTC)
I was about 9 when the first one came out and my parents didn't want to take me; I had to wait until OTP to go with friends.
So this will be my 4th.
onlyghosts Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 02:02 am (UTC)
This will be my third. My first one was OotP, then HBP, but I couldn't go at midnight for DH1.
caribou_cake Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 02:03 am (UTC)
ZERO =C I was either not allowed to or not in town (damn college) with my HP fan friends. My college friends weren't into HP.
dyl_obrien Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 02:06 am (UTC)
Mine either, but I made them all go with me anyway. One of them fell asleep...my brain couldn't comprehend such thing tbh
foofbunny Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 02:13 am (UTC)

My mom bought me tickets to the first one when I was 10 and then she let me skip school the next day because I was so tired. She was like "WHO CARES ABOUT SCHOOL THIS IS HARRY POTTER WE'RE TALKING ABOUT."

And after that it just became a tradition really.
likejesussaid Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 02:21 am (UTC)
OOTP was my first so this will be my 4th
goofusgallant Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 02:34 am (UTC)
Thursday night will be my first midnight premiere.
I'm excited!
fortunaestcaeca Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 02:40 am (UTC)
this will be my fourth, i've gone from OotP onward
saturdaysinbed Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 03:03 am (UTC)
MY 8TH. for the first two we'd send my friend's mom to get our tickets the day before because fandango/moviefone didn't exist :'(
crclmomrub Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 03:39 am (UTC)
6 -- my little sister was lucky enough to have a harry potter nut for an older sister to chaperone her midnight showings...
shania_cares Re: How many midnight premieres have you been to?13th-Jul-2011 04:09 am (UTC)
None. I've never been able to go for various reasons, and I can't go to this one. I did see HBP as a special engagement before official release for my school, though! :)

i don't really care for ron/hermione

TBH i don't really ship anyone in this series, i feel like i've grown up with them as friends and therefore cannot ship them

i just ship like. harry/happiness and luna/craziness and stuff like that.

remus/soul-crushing loneliness

ellyrianna 13th-Jul-2011 02:10 am (UTC)
I LOL'd.
xevochic 13th-Jul-2011 02:39 am (UTC)
dyl_obrien 13th-Jul-2011 02:00 am (UTC)
I sort of ship R/H and H/G - but I think it's mainly because I used to read fanfiction when I was 14/15.
skeet_skeet 13th-Jul-2011 02:11 am (UTC)
I like Characters/happiness more than anything. lol I just want them all to be happy, successful, and content.
fortunaestcaeca 13th-Jul-2011 02:42 am (UTC)
ron/hermione is a horrendous ship tbqh
foofighter0234 13th-Jul-2011 05:40 am (UTC)

When did Netflix become so greedy?
kthx_die_x0 13th-Jul-2011 01:58 am (UTC)
OMG I KNOW. I raged when i got that email today :(
They're going to lose a lot of money this way.
katiefitch 13th-Jul-2011 01:58 am (UTC)

juggarnut 13th-Jul-2011 02:04 am (UTC)

We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.

Your current $14.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 2 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $11.99 a month

Your price for getting both of these plans will be $19.98 a month ($7.99 + $11.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.

These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.
superdogbiter 13th-Jul-2011 01:58 am (UTC)
skeet_skeet 13th-Jul-2011 02:12 am (UTC)
Well I think I'll only stream, then.
tx5mym5 13th-Jul-2011 02:18 am (UTC)
ikr? What is that about? I bet they're trying to break families/friends who use DVDs and streaming.

I'm mad, but I'll probably just scale back to 1 or 2 DVDs and streaming. They have Star Trek: TNG and Voyager on streaming, but no DS9? WTF? I'm using DVDs until that is rectified. Also, I love the extras on DVDs.

I remember reading somewhere that Hermione's original middle name was Jane, but JK changed it to Jean when Umbridge was introduced.
mulholland 13th-Jul-2011 01:58 am (UTC)
omg part 2 was so good. I didn't cry though, I thought I would.
