Queen Barbrallah to release new album August 23 while your faves tremble with fear.

New album "What Matters Most - Barbra Streisand Sings the Lyrics of Alan & Marilyn Bergman" coming August 23
JUNE 27, 2011, 6:00 am

The new album, which Barbra personally produced, features ten Bergman songs which she has never previously recorded. Included in the set are the Academy Award-winning song “The Windmills of Your Mind” from the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair, “So Many Stars” which was a hit for Sergio Mendes & Brazil ’66, “Nice ‘n’ Easy” as popularized by Frank Sinatra, and “That Face” as first recorded by Fred Astaire.

Reflecting on her long-held desire to devote an entire album to the amazingly varied and consistently inspired music of the Bergmans, Barbra noted, “Alan and Marilyn have a remarkable gift for expressing affairs of the heart.”

The affection and respect between the lyricists and the artist is quite wonderful, as the Bergmans continued, “When we write a song, we hear Barbra. She makes the connection from the heart to the mind, and it emerges through her voice.”

Also available August 23 will be a deluxe edition of What Matters Most including ten additional, previously released performances of Barbra singing Bergman classics like “The Way We Were,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” “Papa Can You Hear Me?” and “Pieces of Dreams.”

Check back with http://www.barbrastreisand.com and http://www.facebook.com/barbrastreisand often for more information on pre-orders, including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity from The Official Barbra Streisand Music Store!

Flawless, legend, icon, Dowager Empress Of Pop, your faves will never have her career, more awards and Gold records than your faves, etc. Why the old ass pic for the cover tho? I swear this pic is at least two years old. Too lazy for a new photoshoot, ma'am?

Her Broadway album from the 1980s was flaw-free.
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 01:36 am (UTC)
Her version of "Somewhere" from that album never NEEEEEEEEEVER fails to slay me.

She sings so powerfully yet effortlessly in this special.
joeytheteapot Re: FLAW FREE FRESH FIERCE HBIC!28th-Jun-2011 02:43 am (UTC)
She has never given a bad performance of that song. Ever.

Actually I don't think she's ever given a bad performance of anything ever but that's beside the point.

may not be a popular pick, but I have to go with

just because the Queen of Music and the Queen of Disco coming together is too amazing to fathom
joeytheteapot Re: Fav Babs Song28th-Jun-2011 02:08 am (UTC)
Are you kidding, this is flawless as fuq. I would say Barbra & Donna > Britney & Rihanna, but I would never dare insult such flawless goddesses with such comparisons. (I am a Britney stan BTW.)
badcord Re: Fav Babs Song28th-Jun-2011 02:30 am (UTC)
oh I'm a Britney stan too, and I agree 100%
there was actual thought going into Enough Is Enough, unlike the copy and paste job that was the S&M remix
joeytheteapot Re: Fav Babs Song28th-Jun-2011 02:39 am (UTC)
I've heard one of the recording sessions - it was hilar, cause Donna made up some not-so-PG lyrics.

Don't put up with his shit
Get it over
Beat him up with a stick
Get it over

XD

Flawless queen. My other faves could never. I'd be as pressed as a panini if I were a hater tbh
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 01:42 am (UTC)
"Pressed as a panini" is going into my vocabulary now.

None of my other faves could ever. None of my faves HAVE ever. 50, 51 Gold albums? I think not.
badcord 28th-Jun-2011 01:43 am (UTC)
my most played song by her is Send In The Clowns, which I didn't expect tbh
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 01:54 am (UTC)
Sinatra also does a splendid version.
devil_details 28th-Jun-2011 01:45 am (UTC)
Your faves will never
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 01:56 am (UTC)
They'll never even come close tbqh.

August 23rd is my birthday! <3

Also, anyone else here born on a cusp? We be fiiiiierce as fuuuq
sashafarce 28th-Jun-2011 01:56 am (UTC)
I have no beef w/her but she kinda looks like she's had some pre-cat-lady surgical workup in that picture. :/ no mas!
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 01:59 am (UTC)
idk if she has or not. Her face still looks pretty saggy in candids when she's not made up, but idk.
sashafarce 28th-Jun-2011 02:03 am (UTC)
i'm hoping it's just a combination of angle and facial expression for real.
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 02:04 am (UTC)
Angle, facial expression, and Photoshop tbqh. She prefers digital facelifts, even if they delay her concert DVD's by three years. -___________-
ankiem0e 28th-Jun-2011 02:02 am (UTC)
Ah, they don't make 'em like that anymore.

(Swings some cold sweet tea and goes back to napping on the old porch swing.)
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 02:02 am (UTC)

You will deal.
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 02:13 am (UTC)

I can't decide which flawless legendary gender-bender I prefer - Barbrallah as Yentl or Julie Andrewsus as Victor in Victor/Victoria.
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 02:16 am (UTC)

This song never fails to bring out MY CREYS
cricketgrl 28th-Jun-2011 02:28 am (UTC)
I also love "Lost Inside" duet she does with Kristofferson which is on the Star Is Born Soundtrack I believe.
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 02:41 am (UTC)
The soundtrack > the movie tbqh. 30 minutes shorter than the flaw-free Judy Garland version but feels about an hour longer. -_______- (That's the only Babs movie I've seen so far that I really can't get behind.)
danmac23 28th-Jun-2011 02:22 am (UTC)
She is likely still great, but she won't get mainstream airplay.
Her older fans still buy CD's so she might make a ton of money
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 02:40 am (UTC)
Godbra doesn't need mainstream play. Her albums almost always go Gold minimum with very little promo, bc she is the Queen.
missteaparty 28th-Jun-2011 02:46 am (UTC)
I LOVE YOU GODBRA STREISAND
joeytheteapot 28th-Jun-2011 02:48 am (UTC)

heliophyte 28th-Jun-2011 03:07 am (UTC)
Whenever I need to get in a pumped-up girl power mood I listen to "Don't Rain On My Parade". Thanks Barbra!
maiohwmai 28th-Jun-2011 04:47 am (UTC)
Every time I see her name, this is all I can think of now.
