It's official.
After a frenzied few hours today with Harry Potter author JK Rowling's "Secret Street View" challenge, the name of her next project has been revealed: Pottermore.
But what is it?
It's an incredible new web site. This editor has seen a sneak preview and it is breathtaking in scope, detail and sheer beauty.
Unfortunately that's all I'm allowed to say right now, but rest assured there will be more news soon and we'll bring it to you as it happens!

I FEEL LIKE THIS ALREADY EXISTS EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET BUT OK~
TBH I just want JKR to give me more info about MWPP era characters and then I will forever be satisfied.
i'm pretty sure they already invented the internet
Like here is one of the 7 registrations:
"On-line retail store services featuring prerecorded audio books, electronic books, consumer goods, namely, books featuring action, adventure, and comedy, magazines featuring action, adventure and comedy, coloring books, children's activity books, notebooks, diaries, note cards, stationery, writing paper, envelopes, greeting cards, pens, pencils and cases therefor, erasers, crayons, markers, colored pencils, painting sets, posters, book covers, book marks and calendars"
The USPTO also has lots of pre-written descriptions that you can choose from and some of those list a ton of things. It's slightly less expensive (I think it's either $50 or $75 less) if you use the pre-written descriptions too so sometimes people choose those even if not everything applies to what they're doing.
To put it in more specific terms, let's say you wanted to trademark a name for a dance studio. If you filed the trademark application to say you teach dance classes, then you're covered for pretty much any dance classes. But if you file a trademark application that says you're teaching ballet classes and then next year you decide to teach a tap class too, that tap class is NOT covered under the trademark so you have to file to add that.
It's kind of funny that I was like waaaaaah, $550 to file for one category for my trademark and since J.K. Rowling obviously has no concern about that, filing for SEVEN categories (which each cost $550) is probably less than the amount of cash she uses to wipe her ass with on a daily basis.
JK Rowling isn't one to over-exaggerate.
The last time she made an announcement, the Wizarding World was confirmed.
