lol I just read today that when jerry o'connell asked a girl to prom her reply was "I really like you, I do, but I don't want to go with the fat kid from stand by me"
I like how Speilberg treats the young cast and the connection he has with them. He stuck up for Dakota when Kathy Griffin joked about her going into rehab and mailed Drew Barrymore a quilt when she posed for playboy.
I honestly felt like it was two separate movies. One was a Stand By Me type tale, and the other was just a straight up alien monster flick. Plus, I would have preferred it if both Joe and Alice were kidnapped and their fathers had search for them. But I guess that defeats the purpose of the film.
Exactly. I was so underwhelmed by the ending. It started out so damn strong and then it's as if they just decided to end it by taking creative liberties from E.T.'s ending.
I've seen Super 8 twice. Once with a friend and the second time with my dad. I couldn't remember the last time my father wanted to do something with me and not the rest of my family. It almost made me cry.
Anyway, I wish Steven would go back to his pre Jurassic Park days. :/ His films no longer 'unique' to me.
That being said: I want more movies to come out with mature movies featuring kids acting like kids.
His downturn happened with War of the Worlds (which is like 60% a good movie until Tim Robbins comes into the picture and then it derails and becomes a total joke).
I kind of hated everything about this movie. The alien is kind of an asshole the whole movie. And I'm pretty sure the US Air Force doesn't go around killing US citizens. I know this is a movie and everything but COME ONNNNN man. Plus there's like hardly any interaction with the alien whatsoever until the very end. And every little emotional plot point stuck out like a sore thumb and didn't feel genuine at all.
Best part of the movie was the fat kid's sister. And the fat kid. And I guess the rest of the kids. Elle Fanning was awesome.
ia w/ how they went about the whole plot with the alien. what was it even there for, tbh. could've just done a movie about the kids making a movie and entering the contest.
I have no idea who this guy is outside of Super 8, but apparently he's got a TV show and some fans because everyone is gushing about how great he was and I sat there baffled. He was the weakest actor of the bunch! Especially early on in the film.
He stole so many scene he was in that I found myself loving him in Super 8. I'm rooting for him.
I could be wrong though.
she is a sweetheart.

they're like... overlapping each other... in a very awkward way
Anyways, I didn't really like this movie :/ the kids were great but... idk
cloverfield>super 8

Cloverfield 2 por favor.
lol right? I didn't get how I was supposed to feel sorry for this thing when I only saw it from one perspective. It was scary.
Ignorance is bliss!
