Chris Evans post!
Chris Evans 'Geeked Out' At Seeing 'Avengers' Cast In Costume
As much as I would like the entirety of this post to be about how fun and charming and totally dreamy "Captain America" and "Avengers" star Chris Evans is, I'm pretty sure Splash Page editor Rick Marshall will frown upon that plan, so...
MTV News had a moment with Evans after he finished his official MTV Movie Award presenter duties on Sunday, and the conversation inevitably turned toward Joss Whedon's highly anticipated superhero ensemble, "The Avengers." We asked Evans a few burning questions — for example, are he and his fellow cast members enjoying the exotic film location of Albuquerque, New Mexico? And more seriously, have they filmed any group action scenes yet?
"New Mexico is great!" Evans said of the production's location. "Go there. No, don't," he said, changing his mind.
"It's actually not so bad, I really like Albuquerque," he added.
"It's going great," Evans said of fiilming under Whedon's watchful eye. "It's not an easy task for Joss to incorporate all these characters, and not only is he doing a fantastic job, but everyone is getting along so well. In my experience, when you do a movie with a lot of big stars, it feels like you work and then you go [home]," he explained. "There's a lot of camaraderie. We hang out together, we spend time together."
So what happens when The Avengers (Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson) assemble off-screen?
"We're stuck in Albuquerque, no one is from there, no one knows what to do, so when we're done with work if we have a weekend, we all go get dinner, grab a drink, go to someone's house," he said. "It actually feels like a team," he added, with a knowing smile.
With all that off-screen team bonding going on, we asked if they've been able to use any of it onscreen yet in scenes together.
"Yeah, we've had a couple [group] scenes," Evans revealed. "I've obviously been excited about being Captain America, but . . . when we did 'Captain America,' you're the only superhero on set. [With] 'The Avengers,' there were a couple days where I came to set and you see Hemsworth — who is a superhero — and . . . you see Downey with the ['Iron Man'] suit, and it's the first time I geeked out a bit."
