Kylie Minogue

Kylie's Elephant Trip

Kylie Minogue has hopped on top of an elephant during a surprise trip to Sri Lanka.

She showed her caring side by stopping off in the country to do a spot of charity work.

Kylie was on her way back to Australia when she stopped off on the island in the Indian Ocean. She had been to Paris spending time with her actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez.

The singer is the patron and sponsor of Children Of The Sea - a theatre group mainly made up of children who were orphaned in the Tsunami and civil war.

However, she's been unable to attend any of their performances until now because of her breast cancer diagnosis.

But Kylie was all smiles when she turned up unannounced to see their version of Shakespeare's Pericles - including songs and dances from Sri Lankan cultures, acrobats, fire-eaters, plate-spinners, traditional local drums and an elephant.

Wearing a gorgeous blue dress, headscarf and straw hat - Kylie showed off the garland of white flowers she'd been given by the troupe, as she rode an elephant down the beach.

"I was so happy to finally meet the children... their triumph through adversity is inspiring," the pop star said.

"My visit was all too short. Everyone has been so welcoming; I do hope to return one day soon."

It was recently announced that Kylie was still receiving treatment following her breast cancer diagnosis but there has been no recurrence of the disease.
