Top showjumper Ellen Whitaker engaged to Henry Cavill



Top showjumper Ellen Whitaker is celebrating after getting engaged to her actor boyfriend Henry Cavill last night.

Henry, who has been cast as the new Superman in next year's Superman: Man of Steel, popped the question in a Hollywood hotel after seeking the permission of Ellen's dad, Stephen.



A delighted — and shocked — Ellen said: "I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy."

The couple first met at Olympia in 2009. A date for the wedding is yet to be set.

I'm side eyeing the fact that she released this on her website...AND the fact that she gave a newspaper and interview about her relationship with Henry right around the time he announced he got the role of Superman.

i'm with you totally. There is something odd about all this, the guy has a publicist s why hasnt this announcement come from him, that is what his publicist is for right? Yet she posts it on her website and then its picked up everywhere even though nobody looks at her site seeing as though she isnt famous, so WTF??? This stinks IMHO and knowing what we do about her, this will not end well.

And its just strange how Henry hasn't said a word about his relationship..I think all he's said is that he has a girlfriend...yet, she does that? Weird.

I would even prefer if he was engaged to someone in the acting business..at least then I would know she wouldn't beat the hell out of horses for a living ...and wouldn't act as odd as Ellen :/

Yeah, it is weird. He's never even mentioned her in interviews either. The only thing that he's said is that he has a girlfriend. That's it.

That's my biggest problem. I mean from all accounts Henry is a private person so putting on the website the day after it fucking happened is fucking tacky. "yay we are engaged let me log onto twitter"

Also thought it was weird that it was the day after he asked wouldn't you like wait a little inform your close and outer family members and friends before telling the rest of the world...that's what I thought celebs did...
