Swank and Lowe Back Together, Thanks to Pets



Troubled couple Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe are giving their marriage another chance because they can't decide how to divide up their pets.

The couple owns parrots, dogs, a cat and a rabbit and couldn't bear to live without the menagerie, and that fact has prompted the pair to rework their marriage.

A family source says, "Hilary and Chad realized how much they loved each other when they spent time together with their pets. ... They are one big happy family and don't want to break it up."

The couple split last year and officially separated just after the New Year, but they've recently been spotted together trying to patch up their differences.

At the Golden Globes she said she was very much trying to work out her relationship, I doubt it has much to do with her pets.

Yeah I remember when she was talking to Isaac Mizrahi at the GGs and he referred to her as being single and she got visibly upset by it before saying that she was very much tryibng to work it out. I probably would have smacked him. It was like god forbid people should actually try to work things out. And god forbid it should be for deeper reasons than pets...

but still even after saying that... since they have so many they are probably major animal lovers and for some people pets are honestly almost like children. I know with my boyfriend and I, it would be traumitizing trying to sort out all of ours if we broke up. And we are of course not married. And it's silly, but it is still kind of like a little family. It would be a major issue in a breakup. But of course we wouldn't stay together for some guinea pigs even though it would be an added hurtful issue. heh. ;)

I give them kudos for not going the quick divorce or annulment route. It's nice to see a Hollywood couple show that marriage is a serious committment.

We got our dog because her "parents" divorced. The wife moved away and couldn't take her with her and the husband worked long hours and didn't want to leave her alone all the time. It was completely their loss. She was the sweetest pet ever.

Hey whatever works. From everything she's said though, it sounded like she seriously wanted her marriage to work out, I doubt it's "just" because of their pets. I really hope they make it.

I don't think the implication was they were trying to work it out just because of the pets. I think the implication was that because of all the time they spent together post-split with the pets they realised they still loved each other.

I hope they patch things up.
