lol jk, Radiohead are mega
qween_tartii 18th-Feb-2011 11:15 am (UTC)
Also, Thom's dancing must be GIF'd. It is equal parts awesome and your dad awkward dancing at a party. Do not deny this.
hellooo 18th-Feb-2011 11:19 am (UTC)
There are a lot on Tumblr! http://fuckyeahthomyorke.tumblr.com/, and you can search the Radiohead tag.
r0cksteady00 18th-Feb-2011 02:15 pm (UTC)
LOL i checked those gifs out.

she_slips_away 18th-Feb-2011 11:35 am (UTC)

bienenkiste 18th-Feb-2011 12:29 pm (UTC)
mistress_f 18th-Feb-2011 12:57 pm (UTC)
lol FLAWLESS description of his dancing.
megalixer 18th-Feb-2011 02:17 pm (UTC)
haha this is so true
Thom Yorke is probs like the ultimate hipster dad ever but for some reason that endears him to me instead of making me hate him, lol
denisecky 18th-Feb-2011 11:15 am (UTC)
omg, I was just busy preparing the post for this lol!

I'm so hyper right now, I can't even think rationally. Words cannot describe what goes on in the video. Someone needs to gif the shit out of this!

denisecky 18th-Feb-2011 11:17 am (UTC)
Also, I love how they just casually release a music video to the album that was announced only days ago, whereas Britney Spears has about 12 teasers before they actually show the clip.
denisecky 18th-Feb-2011 11:18 am (UTC)
*Of the album

Again, not thinking clearly.
hellooo 18th-Feb-2011 11:22 am (UTC)
Right? I know airplay and record sales don't matter as much for them, but fans don't need that much hype to get excited.

Then again, it helps to have a track record of flawlessness.
jinxeh13 18th-Feb-2011 11:48 am (UTC)
I dunno. When musicians hype things up a lot, I usually take it to mean that it's because they actually need to. Clearly that isn't the case for Britney, she's one of those rare exceptions, but I also think it stands that Radiohead doesn't not do so much hype because they can't, but because they just don't feel like they really need to (which they don't).
kaauna 18th-Feb-2011 12:50 pm (UTC)
sorry, are you implying people are not excited for a radiohead's album?
qween_tartii 18th-Feb-2011 12:54 pm (UTC)
No, Britney needs to MAKE people excited. Because the music is fuckin shit.
mistress_f 18th-Feb-2011 12:58 pm (UTC)
you probably have no idea how many obsessive fans radiohead have
oblika_farika 18th-Feb-2011 03:12 pm (UTC)
um lol.
x_butterfly19_x 18th-Feb-2011 11:31 am (UTC)
It's a totally different way of oprating. I wonder which is more effective?
qween_tartii 18th-Feb-2011 12:53 pm (UTC)
This is why Radiohead are amazing. They're all like "hey y'all here's our new single for anyone who cares" as opposed to everyone else whos all like "PUBLICITY PUBLICITY PUBLICITY! LOOOK AT MEEEEEEE!"
mistress_f 18th-Feb-2011 01:00 pm (UTC)
well... radiohead have been doing 'alternative' kind of releases for years now... it's super awesome how they just came out and said 'hai new record in 6 days' but i don't think it can be even compared to the type of context that people like britney , GAGA, etc need to build up to grow interest around their music
lexification03 18th-Feb-2011 06:01 pm (UTC)
idc I love Radiohead and Britney Spears, I ain't ashamed
avpdx 19th-Feb-2011 01:31 am (UTC)
Ikr, it's actually about the music
bubblecharm 18th-Feb-2011 11:18 am (UTC)

limendacoconut 18th-Feb-2011 11:23 am (UTC)
Wow! I can't believe I'm finally excited about the new release/single/album! This is awesome! I have chills...

Damn. People are quick! I love these.
deceitful 18th-Feb-2011 11:43 am (UTC)
ikr, I'm loving them. I want to make an icon but I don't think the flawlessness would show.

I've never really heard their song before, but a lot of people seem to like them. Any song to recommend?
zoostation 18th-Feb-2011 11:43 am (UTC)
i've run into this problem before. had a friend who loves oasis, gave him ok computer and he hated radiohead. should have given him the bends. he heard that and now he loves them.

so, do you enjoy weird awesome shit? or standard alt rock music?
qween_tartii 18th-Feb-2011 12:58 pm (UTC)
Anybody who hates OK Computer obviously has severe and debilitating mental issues. I recommend electric shock therapy.
kerfuffleboat 18th-Feb-2011 02:14 pm (UTC)
lol what the hell. defriend that bitch in life.
fiqary 19th-Feb-2011 01:35 am (UTC)
standard I guess..
jinxeh13 18th-Feb-2011 11:45 am (UTC)
Just go listen to The Bends. Best place to start, imo.
kisswithatear 18th-Feb-2011 11:47 am (UTC)
I'd definitely try The Bends album, it's no Ok Computer but it's insanely accessible, along with In Rainbows.

I'm gonna recommend "All I Need" because it's one of their must unabashedly romantic songs. And oh yes, it's quite lovely too.
here it is and it gives you a feel of the mood they enjoy creating. Which is low but beautiful.

Radiohead are popular and critically acclaimed because they are so brilliantly different, they dont fall into a slot, they just are and what they are is amazing.
megalixer 18th-Feb-2011 02:25 pm (UTC)
If you like more 'generic' rock stuff (I use that for lack of a better term because weird radiohead gets pretty fucking weird) I'd second the other recommendations of starting with the Bends, although I think OK Computer is pretty accessible as well and its usually considered one of their best. Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows could be good starting points too, especially the latter. I wouldn't start with Kid A unless you're a fan of experimental electronic stuff already but its glorious when you do get there.

honestly, it's hard to recommend specific songs because they're more of an album band than a singles band, especially as you get later into their discography. just pick an album, listen to it all the way through and see what you like.
oblika_farika 18th-Feb-2011 03:14 pm (UTC)
secretly 18th-Feb-2011 06:17 pm (UTC)
really popular ones are street spirit, karma police, and let down. let down is my favorite
hoodoo 18th-Feb-2011 07:54 pm (UTC)
the bends and okcomputer are good albums to start with.
although I always recommend OKC first, but I think the bends is better to ease in people into them. Some people think okc is "too weird" (CRAZY TAAAALKKK)
kisswithatear 18th-Feb-2011 11:43 am (UTC)
Best day ever. Love it, love Thom and I just want to roll around in the sound for a long time...
jinxeh13 18th-Feb-2011 11:43 am (UTC)
I truly adore how that man just doesn't give a shit about what people think. So few people can get away with dancing like that in a music video...
kisswithatear 18th-Feb-2011 11:48 am (UTC)
Reminds me of David Byrne in Once in a Lifetime, we need more men and human beings like these guys! They're awesome!
mistress_f 18th-Feb-2011 01:24 pm (UTC)
the level of dongiveafuckness of this video reminded me of lou reed in a fucking chicken costume in modern dance lol. and his seriousbsns face while doing so.
