Justin Bieber To Perform At Grammy Awards
Justin Bieber has been confirmed as a performer at the upcoming Grammy Awards ceremony. The teen sensation was already expected to attend the ceremony, as he is up for two Grammys - Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for his EP My World 2.0. Bieber released an acoustic version of the album (which featured acoustic renditions of songs from his previous albums as well as a new song entitled "Pray") back in November.

Bieber will be joining previously-announced performers Arcade Fire, Cee Lo Green, Eminem, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, as well as previously-rumored and newly-confirmed performers Muse, Miranda Lambert and others. The 2011 Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13 and broadcast on CBS at 8 P.M. ET/PT.

Another Alterna-Grammy update!
Heeyyy ONTD, we've gotten way more unique nomination submissions since the last post, so thanks a lot!! However, there are some rules I want to remind and re-inforce when it comes to nominating.

a) You're allowed to nominate up to 5 per category. If you didn't reach that quota when you submitted your picks, you're allowed to make up the leftover nomination spots but just make sure you don't go over the limit. I'm trusting you all on this with the honor system, k? and honestly I'll even allow you to vote again if you already have done so, just choose new nominees because if you keep voting Gaga then that won't help things at all

b) CHECK RELEASE DATES Again, the eligibility window for nominations is Sept. 1, 2009, through Sept. 30, 2010;. This is just a sampling of oft-repeated offenders I am getting: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Kanye), Loud (Rihanna), Pink Friday (Nicki Minaj), Hold It Against Me (Britney), etc etc. Honestly if you're not sure, just check Wikipedia or Amazon.

c) Do your best to categorize nominees. Example: Rihanna is not Hip-Hop/RnB. She's POP. If you're submitting her under the Hip-Hop/RnB category, you're wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. Etc.

d) A general rule of thumb for nominating: if you're never seen an artist posted on ONTD, don't bother submitting them. Some examples of acts that I find are doing well in representation: Robyn, Sleigh Bells, Arcade Fire, Janelle Monae, Black Keys, etc. The main point I'm trying to make is that you don't have to vote mainstream radio acts like Gaga and Rihanna for everything, but I have loads of singular nomination votes that amount to nothing.

e) RECORD OF THE YEAR DOES NOT = ALBUM OF THE YEAR!!! I have the criteria for each category noted above the submissions boxes, so there's no excuse to ignore them unless you're illiterate!! As well, "Record" = an overall track. "Song" = literally the song itself without production and vocals. Finally, the "vocal" part of the category names is just for technicality's sake, to differentiate themselves from the instrumental categories.

f) A lot of results are coming up very close now that there are more submissions, so the slightest difference in votes could be the difference between being nominated and shut out for some selections.

I think that's it for now. Since the nominations will be announced a week from today, I'll probably post reminders twice more this week, just to squeeze out all the possible nominations we can. Thanks again for cooperating!
