Earlier this week it was confirmed that Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro would join forces again for their ninth feature film entitled, The Irishman. De Niro has been talking about the film since early this spring and now it looks like everything’s really coming together. In an interview with MTV, he revealed that not only was he on board, but so was Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.
De Niro originally said that he wanted The Irishman to be a two-part drama, but unfortunately it only looks like they’ll be able to pull off one. They do have some financing and according to the actor, “[W]e do have the one that we’re definitely doing. Me, Joe Pesci, Pacino and Marty Scorsese directing.”
The Irishman is based on the book, I Heard You Paint Houses and centers on a hitman named Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. The book chronicles his various “assignments.” He supposedly killed Jimmy Hoffa and Joe Gallo and a slew of other missing and murdered people. Steve Zaillian, who worked with Scorsese on Cape Fear and Gangs of New York might adapt the screenplay.
De Niro has worked with both Pacino and Pesci in multiple films in the past, but we’ve never seen all three in the same project. This is going to be epic.

& al pacino <3
epic news indeed
Nevertheless, I shall celebrate later by watching Pesci in Home Alone 1 & 2
Scorcese hasnt showed signs of slowing down (Shutter Island was fine all things considered and Departed was dope)
You do worry about Pacino and De Niro at there age being uninspired by the material they are given, but maybe Marty can help that out. Pesci, whatever. At this point he's damned if he does, damned if he doesnt. People almost expect him to always play the Goodfellas dude.
They'll be expectations though. People forget now, but when Heat first came out some people viewed it as a massive dissapointment given the cast and the director (although I think its interesting in the years since then its a classic and now modern day classics get compared to it like Dark Knight and Departed)
On a side note. Pray for ya boy. If I get a few major major hotel marketing projects off the ground in 2011, then I (and the firm I work with) maybe selected to do some of the marketing for Nobu hotels in the UK and Middle East. Which would mean possibly, maybe possibly having the occasional meeting with Robert DeNiro who advises on the designs of the hotels. Now that would be cool.
Also I didn't think Heat was a fail, it was classic and it was exactly what I was expecting. It was classic Mann. As for this well I think it will be great. These three can do Mafia/gangster films in their sleep so even if it's not the best it'll be pretty decent.
