Which Celebrities Don't Drive?
Having a chauffeur is a perk many celebs enjoy – and some have no choice.
Russell Brand felt bad that his wife Katy Perry had to drive him around, so he recently started taking driving lessons. And it turns out the funny Brit, 35, is in good company.
Here are a few other stars who got their driver's licenses late in life – or simply don't drive at all:
Carey Mulligan, 25, never wanted to drive, but had to learn for her recent movie, Never Let Me Go. "I always thought I'd crash," Mulligan told PEOPLE at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I worked with a driver during awards season and he used to give me lessons on the side so that's how I got it together."
Daniel Radcliffe, 21, who just learned to drive last year, was so determined to get his license that he opted to take lessons in the quiet English countryside instead of the congested streets of London.
Fellow Brit Robert Pattinson confessed he doesn't exactly know his way around a car to Ellen DeGeneres. "I don't actually know how to drive. It's absolutely terrifying," he told the talk show host while admitting he does drive himself around L.A. "I don't know how to use the little wipey thing on the windscreen, so I couldn't see out of the windscreen."
Earlier this year, singer Amy Winehouse, 27, declared that she wanted driving lessons on her Twitter account.
Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser, 31, takes two buses or the L.A. Metro to the set of his Emmy winning AMC show. "Instead of driving and being stressed out about traffic, you can work your scene, you can do your exercises or whatever on the bus," Kartheiser told The New York Times recently.
British comic Ricky Gervais, 49, needs to find new ways to spend his fortune since he doesn't have a license. "I don't drive so I haven't bought a flash car," he has said.

i don't have mine either. I live in NYC, that is my excuse.
i also don't have a car... yay for feet
I feel like if you don't want your license right at 16 (or as soon as humanly possible) there's a hearty chance your parents are coddling you too much. The exception is people who make good use of public transportation. But if you're getting rides from your parents and they aren't telling you "No bitch, I'm not going to drop everything and pick you up", then it's probably time to cut the cord.
OR if you just get rides from friends, well, they may secretly hate you now are eventually will. I've been the chauffeur friend and that sucks too. Even if people are chipping in money you still wonder how much people are using you.
K. I'm done.
and yeah, true. the reality is, some people really don't NEED a license. it's something convenient but there are some people who just don't need one.
At least I feel like one
Please dear God don't let Amy behind a wheel.
I think I remember reading that Kate Beckinsale can't drive either.
That said, I love to drive. It relaxes me, which is weird, I guess. :P Also, I'd probably lose my mind depending on others to drive me places.
i mean i would probably prefer not to drive if given the option but i think it's a life skill people should know
It is really not necessary for me to have car, I'm just creating congestion and ruining the air quality.
Also I just can't afford taking lessons, in my country it's a much longer and more expensive process than in the US (and I'm happy because of that, more responsible drivers).
Maybe I'll learn how to drive in a few years if I'm going to need it for a job or something, right now I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
You're probably being facetious and I'm just over reacting. I can't drive. Being adult is something you earn I believe and driving isn't part of that for me.
My son is 14 right now and wants to et his permit as soon as he's old enough (15 1/2), but unless his grades get up, there's NO WAY I'm paying for the lessons and for the insurance rates for a boy with poor grades, and he knows this.

I think I drive better by myself not when other people are with me.
the fact that I don't think I'm a good driver means I try to never put myself in situations that I have to drive out of, I'm very conservative behind the wheel
i sort of have an excuse, plus it costs money to learn how to drive.
But it would be sad if I wasn't cause I've been driving for 13 years.
I'm good by myself, but I think I'm a terrible driver when my friends are with me! They make me nervous. I also get angry easily because the people in my town are terrible drivers. To get your license here you just have to back out, make two right turns and park. My friend had no clue that you couldn't turn left on a red and almost killed me once. They actually have signs here that say no left turn on red because people assume you can do it since you can go right on a red.
They also go 20 under the speed limits on the main roads and 20 over on the highway. It sucks when you are trying to get on the interstate when people are going 20 mph to get on an interstate where people are going 80 mph.
also, I have road rage sometimes.

Yes, but I do rage at other drives... Especially ones who don't indicate.
Like, I follow a lot of precautions but I like to speed, so lol
I think I'm a good driver but I say things to other drivers like "OH MY GOD, VAN. DO YOU WANT ME TO JUST RAM YOU WITH ALL YOUR KIDS INSIDE BECAUSE I WILL DO IT", "If you go any slower, time will stop", "You don't get shot in the face as often as you should", and "You drive like old people fuck", so maybe I'm a little over reactive.
So by that definition, so far, and hopefully into the long distant future, yes, I think I'm a good driver.
And yes. I tend to drive a little fast, but whatever. :)
I'm anal about driving. I always use the proper techniques, etc. I don't use my cell phone, I hate slow drivers, etc. USE YOUR GODDAMN TURN-SIGNAL. THAT'S WHAT ITS THERE FOR.
I like to control things in my life. Knowing how to drive is just another thing I can control.
Here in Texas, so many highways are at 70mph. I love it. Means I can go 85. :)
/cool story bro
I'm a careful driver but at the same time I'm not some granny driver that goes 10 miles under the speed limit and takes forever to turn or park.
I'm only 17 and I know, of course all teens think they're good drivers, but I have military parents and they don't play when it comes to safety.
I love driving ^_^
I couldn't have handled the buses for much longer..... I just couldn't have done....
But I RAGE at people that get in the left lane creeping at/below the speed limit! If you are not willing/comfortable driving at a speed that would likely render a speeding ticket, gtfo the left lane!!! /endrant
