Alanis Morissette posts a picture of her pregnant belly adorned with henna!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Pregnant singer Alanis Morissette has covered her bulging belly in a henna pattern as part of a "heart-warming" ceremony celebrating her impending motherhood.

She posted this picture on Twitter showing her stomach, along with her friends' hands and arms, which were also adorned in matching swirls.

She wrote, "some rituals surprise in the heart-warming department.... :) -- am."

The singer is expecting a baby boy. She announced her pregnancy joy in August. It will be the star's first child with husband MC Souleye, who she married in May.

And the 36 year old is making plans for a blue nursery after learning her firstborn will be a son, her representative tells UsMagazine.com.

I'm so happy she found happiness after that asshole Ryan Reynolds dumped her for that talentless basic bland-pretty girl Scarlett Hohansen
violetsapphire 18th-Nov-2010 06:24 pm (UTC)
I thought they were broken up for awhile before he and Scarlett hooked up?

it was just over a year between when he & Alanis broke off their engagement and he and ScarJo got engaged. They started dating like right after he and Alanis broke up.

It seemed really fast to me (then again i "not-dated" my husband for 3 years and then an additional 2 years of actually dating before we got engaged so maybe i am a slow dater...)
sevenmarie 18th-Nov-2010 06:41 pm (UTC)
omg i think Ryan is smokin' hot but yeah this broke my heart for Alanis when it happened. her album after it is so sad too.

ugh I know right. That whole thing kinda turned me against him and I used to like him.

sevenmarie 18th-Nov-2010 06:42 pm (UTC)

What are people's thoughts on 'crunchy granola' mom's? The whole bit where everything is natural, they sleep with their babies, they only do organic, formula is pure evil, they eat their placentas, etc.
anterrabre 18th-Nov-2010 06:17 pm (UTC)
Their life, their choice.
juteux 18th-Nov-2010 06:19 pm (UTC)
i think humans are the only mammals who don't eat their placentas or feed their babies breastmilk from another animal, which is kind of weird when you think about.
saintmorse 18th-Nov-2010 11:59 pm (UTC)
That's one of the reasons I can't bring myself to drink milk. It's so weird.
romp 19th-Nov-2010 12:22 am (UTC)
I think most humans agree with you on drinking milk from other animals. I think Northern Europeans did it--and most aren't lactose intolerant unlike other groups--because of the need for Vit D.
fletwock 18th-Nov-2010 06:27 pm (UTC)
I'll probably be one of those mothers some day, haha. I'll breastfeed if possible, co-sleep, etc. I'm still thinking about the placenta though. Spaghetti or meatloaf?
102bb 18th-Nov-2010 06:27 pm (UTC)
Aside from the sleeping together part, I plan to do all of that with my future babies. I see no problem with it.
la_geni 18th-Nov-2010 06:28 pm (UTC)
My bro was Mom intolerant or whatever and was on formula since he was a wee lil' newborn. Then he became lactose intolerant lol

I think some people take some of the "natural" crap too far though. There is no fucking necessity to eat your damn placenta. This isn't 1600 BC.
hayzaaay 18th-Nov-2010 06:34 pm (UTC)
i'm sure i'm gonna breastfeed and be all organicy and natural. although i'm a vegetarian and i haven't figured out what i'd do about my bb's eating habits. depends on what the father would want too? idk. but i def will not be eating the placenta
nuclearcouture 18th-Nov-2010 06:36 pm (UTC)
I think it's gross personally.

But as long as they're getting their children proper health care (not avoiding immunizations and the child is not malnourished from being vegan or something), they can be as gross as they want.
hoot 18th-Nov-2010 06:46 pm (UTC)
My mom was that way (minus the placenta eating, thank god). I slept with my parents until I was like 2, had cloth diapers, the whole works. I turned out fine. Not something I would do with my kid though. If I have kids I plan on working from home, so that just wouldn't work for me.
xeroxicide__ 18th-Nov-2010 07:13 pm (UTC)
I think it's fair to consider the multi-cultural influences on birth and raising infants. In Asia, or at least where I'm from, it's perfectly normal to sleep on the floor with your parents even when you're not a child anymore. So I will DEFINITELY be sleeping with my child because it's normal to me.
i_heart_pizza 18th-Nov-2010 07:38 pm (UTC)
Aside from eating the placenta (gross) I think it's the best way to go, if I had a kid I wouldn't give it formula for as long as I can. Ive heard young mothers say they'll breastfeed as little as possible "because it's uncomfortable" and I just wanted to slap them :/
romp 19th-Nov-2010 12:08 am (UTC)
What an odd question. My wife and I have hippies tendencies, granted, but I also feel there are very good reasons to cosleep, breastfeed, eat organic, etc. What's important is not to demonize someone who doesn't do any of those things.

Having someone question if you're doing right by your child is understandably triggery but it's a frag when mamas don't support other mamas.
unintended 19th-Nov-2010 02:56 am (UTC)
I have one friend that's like that and I think she can do whatever she wants but I'm SO SICK of her trying to shove her opinions on me.

I saw this article on yahoo odd news where you can get a temporary henna tattoo in gold. Sadly there were no pics.
romp Re: gold henna tat19th-Nov-2010 12:27 am (UTC)
I've seen henna designs in henna and gold leaf. Is that what you mean? Some look like glitter is mixed in with henna.
chaosgrrrl_77 Re: gold henna tat19th-Nov-2010 11:30 am (UTC)
that might be what the article meant. I didn't read it all because I didn't see any pics :)

I love her sfm.
Seeing her in concert is definitely in the Top 3 on my Bucket List.

Fellow Alanis Stan.

I've seen Alanis in concert 3 times. On the Junkie tour, 5 1/2 weeks tour, and the small club tour she did with what would become Under Rug Swept songs , in which I was seriously 3 to 5 feet away from her....
fayefil 19th-Nov-2010 04:16 am (UTC)
Seen her 4 times now! Once in Memphis, twice in Nashville and once in Saint Louis. A-fucking-mazing.
