DAN GORDON-LEVITT, BROTHER OF JOSEPH, HAS PASSED AWAY - UPDATED: CAUSE OF DEATH

Burning Dan, we will miss you.
you were a shining light for our entire community
and although I know you would want us to smile, dance, and flow
I'm going to take a few moments to be sad for your passing.

For everyone who has not heard, Dan passed peacefully and unexpectedly Sunday night. In addition to founding and running Flow Temple, Dan was a celebrated poi-oneer who constantly challenged our thoughts on both how the tools could be used, and what good you could bring to the world through your art form.

He was also an incredibly sweet soul.

When we have information on a memorial service, we will pass it on.

That's what I find so sobering. A few hours ago - almost a few minutes ago, really - he was a human being just like all of us here, out there somewhere, doing something. And now he's just gone... he's not here anymore. It makes you really vividly aware of the concept of mortality.

His poor, poor family.

That is so fucking sad and unexpected. RIP to his brother. I hope it didn't have anything to do with his whole fire-twirling stuff, because I know that some people wouldn't mind dying doing what they love, but damn death-by-fire ranks up high on the "painful ways of dying."

Complications from pneumonia. That's the only relative peaceful, but sudden cause of death I can think of.

That happened to a client of my office; he'd had pneumonia but they thought he was getting better. One day he didn't show up to work, and a friend of his went to check on him and found him dead in his bed. He said the guy was on his side, blanket pulled up to his chin, head on his pillow and looked like he was asleep, so it must have certainly been quick and peaceful.

since when is pneumonia fatal in young, relatively healthy people?
i had pneumonia as a child.

i know it's very dangerous in elderly people though....

sometimes people just don't wake up from sleeping. it happened to a friend of mine that i worked with. his heart just stopped one night and he never woke up, doctors said it was the most peaceful way one can go. he was only 16 at the time :/

Brain aneurysm? The worst part is that you get headaches days before you die.

Maybe some sort of blot clot or embolism.

I've just been reading the comments and following this, unsure of what to say. I've been wondering why this is bothering me so much and I just realized it's because he reminds me a lot of my brother. Sad stuff.
