So I'm not a parent, so maybe people will get on me for this, but for fine hair that long, shit gets tangled and covered in food and stuff. I would put it in a ponytail or braid it. Ideally, I'd chop it into an Asian girl bob like I and so many others had as a kid.

I had long fine hair as a child, and as an adult for that matter lol, and as long as my Mom kept on top of brushing it and making me brush it I never had a problem.

I'd get a tangly rat's nest every now and again and my Mom would have to detangle it but that was the worst that happened. I never got food in it. O_o

That reminds me of one year when I was like 7 or 8 I didn't brush my hair the whole summer (I was a dirty kid admittedly) and by the end I had the biggest knot ball ever in the back of my head. I wanted to just cut it off but my mom being more preoccupied with appearances than I ever will be spent hours getting the knot out instead. Strangely enough it also happened to my cousin that same summer who is the same age.
