RV Dealer Challenges Taylor Lautner to Push-Up Contest

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The owner of an RV dealership sued by Taylor Lautner over a customized vehicle challenged the "Twilight" star Monday to use his muscles instead of his lawyers to resolve the case.

Brent McMahon, who owns McMahon's RV in Irvine, Calif., offered to compete in a push-up contest to settle the breach of contract lawsuit that Lautner filed Aug. 23 claiming the dealership failed to deliver a $300,000 RV on time for use as a dressing room on the set of the actor's latest film.

McMahon and his attorney denied wrongdoing and said they will vigorously defend the case in court if Lautner, 18, doesn't accept the challenge.

The dealership said Lautner's camp had sought a $40,000 settlement to resolve the case, leading to the unorthodox proposal by McMahon. The 47-year-old businessman said if he won the contest, he would donate the settlement money to Children's Hospital of Orange County.

Lautner's attorney Robert Barta declined comment, citing the pending lawsuit.

Lautner's lawsuit claimed McMahon's failed to complete the customized RV on time, and it needed additional work after it was delivered.

It was unclear what upgrades Lautner sought. McMahon said the vehicle was given a custom paint job.

Lautner gained fame for his role as Jacob Black in the "Twilight" movie series. He is currently filming "Abduction" and will reprise his role as Black in the two-part "Twilight" finale.

And the press release:

Press Release!
Owner of McMahon's RV Issues Challenge To Taylor Lautner In Settlement of Dispute

Irvine, CA - August 30, 2010

McMahon’s RV, based at Travel Land in Irvine, California, is a dealer of new and used recreational vehicles and trailers. McMahon’s RV is where customers count, where customers come first, and where the depth of its inventory reflects a total commitment to the RVing lifestyle. McMahon’s RV prides itself on being home to the world’s finest motorhomes. McMahon’s RV has been a fixture in Orange County since its inception in 2000, and currently employs a sales and service staff consisting of 180 employees selling and servicing Class A, B, and C Motorhomes, Travel Trailers, and Fifth Wheels. McMahon’s RV is the go-to dealer on the West Coast and, as such, Taylor Lautner chose McMahon’s RV to purchase his RV and customize it inside and out.

On August 23, 2010, Taylor Lautner and his company, Shark Kid Entertainment, Inc. (“SKE”), filed a lawsuit against McMahon’s RV. The lawsuit alleges that SKE purchased a $300,000 RV for use by Lautner as a dressing room during filming of his latest movie and was delivered too late for the shooting causing him monetary damages and emotional distress. After McMahon’s RV installed upgrades and arranged for the RV to receive a custom paint job, all at Lautner’s request, SKE paid the full purchase price and accepted delivery of the RV. No attempts have been made to return the vehicle to McMahon’s RV. Lautner and SKE have yet to serve McMahon’s RV with a copy of the Summons and Complaint. McMahon’s RV denies all allegations and any wrongdoing.

On August 24, 2010, Brent McMahon, owner of McMahon’s RV, communicated an offer through counsel to personally meet with Dan and Taylor Lautner in an effort to resolve the parties’ dispute. Mr. McMahon’s peace offering was refused. Instead, counsel for Lautner and SKE demanded payment of $40,000 with the explicit threat that refusal to pay would result in a public smear campaign against McMahon’s RV.

Apparently Lautner has plenty of money to spend on attorneys. Brent McMahon proposes an alternate and better use of any settlement payment: Mr. McMahon (age 47) challenges Taylor Lautner (age 18) to a push-up contest at a time and place of Lautner’s choice, the winner to be determined by who can complete the most push-ups. If Mr. Lautner wins, then McMahon’s RV will pay SKE and Lautner $40,000 in full settlement of the parties’ dispute. If, however, Mr. McMahon wins, then he will donate the $40,000 to a charity of Mr. McMahon’s choice. Under either scenario, Lautner and SKE will dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice.

Alternatively, Adam K. Obeid, Esq., at the Law Firm of Ferruzzo & Ferruzzo, LLP, 3737 Birch Street, Newport Beach, California, 92660, (949) 608-6900, will vigorously defend all charges.

The Push-Up Competition Details:

Brent Mc Mahon has challenged Taylor Lautner to a Push-up contest at a time and place of Mr. Lautner's choice

* If Taylor Lautner wins, $40,000.00 goes to Mr. Lautner for him to use as he
* If Brent McMahon wins, $40,000.00 goes to our charity of choice - CHOC
Children's Hospital of Orange County

Google tells me this is 47-year-old Brent McMahon - only pic I could find
