Hedwigs plot changed?!

WB confirmed that Hedwigs departure will be different.

The image depicting Harry letting Hedwig fly away included the following description from WB: "Everyone mounts up and leaves Privet Drive. Harry says goodbye to Hedwig." So this does confirm that Harry lets Hedwig go prior to his departure.

Some MuggleNet readers are saying a leaked copy of the script reveals that Hedwig flies back to save Harry during the Seven Potter fights, and THEN she gets killed as she protects Harry.

I'd like to remind you that several of the most infuriating plot changes in OOTP and HBP were Yates doing and not Kloves. Including the burrow burning down and all that Cho Chang BS. I wouldn't be surprised if this is Yates doing either.

It would be more dramatic for a movie. In the book, Hedwig was sulking because Harry made her stay in a cage for a while, and that's hard to translate over to film, I guess. Not that I'm defending the change. -_-

Dude, you don't know the half of it--I'd done a midnight party at Borders (of course), and the kid who won the costume contest was a little boy dressed as Dobby. HE WAS LITERALLY WEARING A PILLOWCASE. AND PANTYHOSE ON HIS HEAD. AND THEN DOBBY DIED.

I think she did it to symbolize that turning point where youth and carefree times were over. I was floored when I read it, had to stop a bit to come to terms with it and really felt that there was no way back, Harry's childhood was over. I think that's what she was going for, and it completely worked for me.
