Alan Ball womps; will not allow Snoop Dogg guest appearance

Image and video hosting by TinyPicThe stars of HBO vampire drama True Blood have dismissed suggestions that Snoop Dogg will appear on the show.

The rapper previously admitted that he would like a cameo role and also released a song dedicated to lead character Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin).

However, speaking at a UK convention, Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte) denied that Dogg was being lined up for a part.

"Apparently Snoop has wanted to be on the show from the beginning, but I don’t think [creator] Alan Ball is going to let that happen,"he explained. "Having such a high-profile person appear in the show, I think it would take us all out of Bon Temps. [Alan] doesn't need to cast Snoop Dogg to get people to watch."

He added: "We're glad he watches and likes the show though."

Tramell's co-star Kristin Bauer (Pam Ravenscroft) agreed that casting the rapper could be damaging for the series.

"A lot of times on TV when ratings dip they go for stunt casting," she said. "It's not a good thing, and we definitely don't need that yet."

True Blood continues on Sunday at 9pm on HBO.

Oh come on, Alan. How could you deny loyal viewers the sort of brilliance his guest stint on One Life to Live brought us?

Agreed. Change the title of this post, OP!

You are NO FUN, Alan Ball, no fun at all!
brandon198403 9th-Aug-2010 10:41 pm (UTC)
Good. He wouldn't fit into any storyline. It would be pointless and stupid.
omgitskaren 9th-Aug-2010 10:42 pm (UTC)
HDU he would bring so much 2 the table
lafrijole 9th-Aug-2010 10:53 pm (UTC)
Elvis was in the books as a vampire turning gone wrong... Snoop could do it.

Omg Bubba. He would have been so awesome on the show :[

Ryan Murphy should rip a page from The Alan Ball Book of Casting, and stop with the pointless celebrity guest spots.

Glee has gotten out of control. I don't even know if I can watch it next season.
christosx3 9th-Aug-2010 10:45 pm (UTC)
ikr. A high school in the middle of nowhere has had Josh Groban and Olivia Newton John appear, and a Kristen Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris ~look alike on the show.

I'm actually ok with the Broadway people the show features, because that's kind of how I thought it would develop. But all this talk of JT, J. Lo, Javier Bardem, and the countless others who want to be on the show is just ridiculous at this point. The second season hasn't even started yet!

Just make him a background character, Alan Ball. I'm sorry if it will cut down on your precious HERO BEEL-time.
Needs more Jesus anyways.
bingomassacre 9th-Aug-2010 10:44 pm (UTC)
he pisses me off sfm with how much he loves bill. ...like he read the books right?
stilettoxmafia 9th-Aug-2010 10:46 pm (UTC)
I'm convinced he stopped halfway into Club Dead.
magli 9th-Aug-2010 10:49 pm (UTC)
I think Alan Ball has a serious case of Doctor Jack Shepherd disease. Just because you want to be that person doesn't make them any more likable to the rest of the world, people. I could deal with it if they let Stephen Moyer be more attractive though. Now he just seems ugly and abusive, and I'm not sure if that's what they're going for.

If Alan Ball was following the books so closely, Lafayette would be dead.
stilettoxmafia 9th-Aug-2010 10:43 pm (UTC)
I think it'd be hilarious just to have him in the background of a shot. And he has no lines. And then people are at home going "holy shit, that was Snoop."

Like did I miss the part when they awkwardly posed in the pilot and someone took the picture?

And with the show timeline, they've been dating like a month.
brokenseas 9th-Aug-2010 10:43 pm (UTC)
Oh get a sense of humor, Alan Ball. You are a ruiner of all fun things
christosx3 9th-Aug-2010 10:43 pm (UTC)
I don't think Snoop is really going to take any offense by this, I'm sure he's just having fun trying to get on the show but knows it will never happen.
aryan 9th-Aug-2010 10:43 pm (UTC)

Are you serious? In 2010 people are still using such a bigoted and hateful term.

I can't believe the mods approved this post with such a disgusting excuse for a title.

I thought this community was a little better than that. "Womps" brings back painful memories of my childhood. UGH I'm seriously disgusted by your use of it, OP.
omgitskaren 9th-Aug-2010 10:45 pm (UTC)
lol um i didn't know it was offensive lol. i only know it from that show recess, i think you're confused?
aryan 9th-Aug-2010 10:49 pm (UTC)
Umm it's a very racist term. Please don't play dumb and fix your post title.

omgitskaren 9th-Aug-2010 10:45 pm (UTC)
what does it even mean? i thought it was just like a substitute for "sucks"
christosx3 9th-Aug-2010 10:46 pm (UTC)
Can you explain what 'womps' mean?
squirrels_oh_no 9th-Aug-2010 10:44 pm (UTC)
I don't think Snoop having a small guest spot would be any worse than his obsession with Beel and Suckeh.
bingomassacre 9th-Aug-2010 10:45 pm (UTC)

lol but seriously, it couldn't hurt to have him strut into merlotte's or anything

ugh, I know. My boyfriend and I were hoping that Franklin would stick around and Tara would indulge his batshit craziness for a few more episodes just so a couple of scenes would not be completely depressing.
fusilli_head 9th-Aug-2010 10:46 pm (UTC)
Is it too soon to talk about the most recent episode? This season is leaps and bounds ahead of season 2 and a Snoop cameo would only make it better, tbh. Especially if he didn't have any lines and was just a background character.
rvrthms 9th-Aug-2010 10:47 pm (UTC)
alan ball: let snoop dogg on and only snoop dog on.
leucine666 9th-Aug-2010 10:48 pm (UTC)
I was going to mention One Life to Live too! XD

However, why would he waste time with that show. It's just True Blood. There are better things.
