Farewell, James Bond
James Bond has finally met his match: a bankrupt studio.
It's been confirmed that JAMES BOND 23 is now officially canceled. The movie's future had been in doubt for awhile, as have all properties associated with MGM, but now it's most definitely not happening anytime soon. Bummer, huh?
It's a damn shame because JAMES BOND 23 was going to be directed by none other than Oscar winner Sam Mendes, with a script from Peter Morgan. Daniel Craig was of course set to star as 007.
MGM is drowning in debt and is desperately looking for a buyer to help them out and finance new films. Until that time, it's having to shelve or cancel scheduled productions. The one bright spot is THE HOBBIT, which seems to be slowly moving forward. Insiders are hoping for a January start date for filming of THE HOBBIT. However, everything else must wait, including Bond.
We have no clue when JAMES BOND 23 will actually get underway. It could be a very long time. I just hope that Daniel Craig is willing to suit up again whenever the time comes. But, honestly, I can't blame him if he doesn't. The guy can't wait around forever.
The bigger question is what is going to happen to MGM? How long can this last? Will THE HOBBIT save them? Will anything?

I want moar Daniel Craig though.
The Brosnan ones are terrible imo.
Roger Moore and Sean Connery.
Casino Royale with Craig is probably the next best one.
I'm a fan of these schlocky things, so...
that said: I would especially recommend Goldfinger, Thunderball, Live & Let Die (because ZOMG BOND BLACKSPLOITATION FILM), Diamonds Are Forever, and the recent Casino Royale (not the David Niven farce version, or the made-for-TV miniseries).
It might also help to stack in a few Austin Powers viewings, as those are pretty directly related to Dr. No & Goldfinger.
I prefer Casino Royale overall but then again I haven't seen very many Bond movies.
Best of Sean Connery - Goldfinger. If you want to see one that's a little more loose, and less techy and gadgety, Diamonds Are Forever (he came back after people hated George Lazenby... he was 41 in DAF, so nice if you like an older Bond). You Only Live Twice inspired a lot of what you see in the original Austin Powers near the end. Least Favorite - Never Say Never Again. This was a remake of Thunderball in the 80's and completely ridiculous.
Best of Roger Moore - People will hate me for this, but... A View To a Kill. It's totally batshit bonkers, but it has Christopher Walken and Grace Jones in it. I love Roger Moore because he's not badass Bond. He 'lucks' into everything that goes his way. Least Favorite - Moonraker.
Best of Timothy Dalton - Well, he only did 2 movies. I prefer The Living Daylights to License to Kill, but this was the return of Badass Bond, and it stayed that way for the next 24 years (that's why I miss the Roger Moore bond).
Best of Pierce Brosnan - I still prefer his debut as Bond in Goldeneye. Sean Bean is in this and he's SO easy on the eyes (though he looked better in Lord of the Rings, IMO).
Daniel Craig - Well, he's only done 2 as well, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Casino Royale was the better one of the two.
my gaydar is broken, clearly
In 1992, Craig married Scottish actress Fiona Loudon, with whom he has a daughter, Ella. However, the marriage ended in a divorce in 1994.[23] After his divorce he was in a seven-year relationship with German actress Heike Makatsch and is currently in a relationship with film producer Satsuki Mitchell.
