Lol I definitely came in here thinking I should control myself, but I can't even help it.

~but the style of literature is racially ambiguous~

This isn't a Hollywood film, though, right? Pretty sure it's being made in Japan. . . .
[info]zephyrkist 2nd-Jul-2010 10:43 pm (UTC)
this was my first thought, too. Of course, it's even remotely Hollywood but who cares it's Murakami!!!

I love seeing anything Haruki Murakami related here :) Hope this is as good as the book.
[info]thehousesparrow 2nd-Jul-2010 04:10 pm (UTC)
Yes, Murakami is so great. I love his writing.

Doesn't seem to have an American release date yet. Does it take a while for movies to get translated into English and released? dub/sub whatever.
[info]writtenbyhand 2nd-Jul-2010 02:10 pm (UTC)
IMDB doesn't list an American distributor yet, but I heard something about Fortissimo handling international sales? Don't know what that means though, lol.

This is out in Japan December 2010, so I'm thinking mid-2011 for other distributors. But I expect torrents with English subs to be out sooner than that.

Read some Murakami. Your description of this is exactly what I would say about his writing. I love him :3
[info]abbichicken 2nd-Jul-2010 10:54 am (UTC)

This looks so perfectly, perfectly perfect. It's my least favourite Murakami book, but I think it will be the most wonderful film. Hope this gets a good worldwide release.
[info]zephyrkist 2nd-Jul-2010 10:47 pm (UTC)
I haven't actually read this one yet (it's lonely on my bookshelf....) but so far my least favorite was Kakfa on the Shore. I think it's because the translation was awful. Did you like this one less than Kafka?
[info]abbichicken 2nd-Jul-2010 11:11 pm (UTC)

So true, the translation of Kafka wasn't a patch on some of the others... I did like Norwegian Wood even less, but I think that's partly to do with the nature of the plot and so on...I do think it's a beautiful book, but of all Murakami's, it's the least 'my kind' of book...I'm not sorry I read it, but I wouldn't do it again any time soon XD
[info]kimchikimi 2nd-Jul-2010 10:54 am (UTC)
