First sketches from the Material Girl Collection

First sketches from the Material Girl Collection
Today Macy’s released three sketches from Madonna’s Material Girl clothing line which will hit store shelves and Macys.com on Tuesday 03 August.

The collection will retail from $12 to $40 and an advertising campaign will launch on Tuesday 29 June.

A Macys.com/materialgirl website will be launched as well as Material Girl Facebook and Twitter pages with behind-the-scenes goodies and pictures from the collection and campaign.

And last but not least there will be a competition run by Macy's for one fan and three friends to meet Madonna in New York City!

"The teaser campaign is called Who's That Girl and will kick off on June 29th to build up interest for the August 3rd launch date. It features a girl with bleached hair and very 80's rocker style leather jacket with a rosary in her hand but never really showing her face. Macy's stores in San Francisco's Union Square and New York's Herald square will have huge Who's That Girl banners decorating the shops but the actual stock of clothes will be moved in stores just the night befor launching date. The shops are to feature lace wallpaper with chain link fence wall paper, very "Like A Virgin era".
The images being used for the various adverts also feature young women in a very 80's style rocker look and not Madonna herself. Considered names for the handbags are Madonna song titles such as Lucky Star and Angel but it's still unclear if those will be used in the end. The line also features bags, shoes, leggings, leather jackets with fringe, short frilly skirts, graphic tees and bustiers, yes bustiers! Everything has a very 80's look.
Promotion will also be done online with a Facebook page that has already been set up. But the best part of promotion will be a chance to meet Madonna herself. Macys will also be offering US Macy's shoppers in September a chance for a paid trip to New York City and a meeting the Queen Of Pop The line will not debut in all of Macy's 800 stores in the US but only 200/300 stores will be carrying it at first with more to be added depending on the success of the brand."

HDU, she needs to strike while the iron is hot.
indie_star 23rd-Jun-2010 11:36 pm (UTC)
It's basically her daughter's line. The daughter's into fashion and likes designing.
turdferguson 23rd-Jun-2010 06:31 pm (UTC)
but will my coupons work?
kawaiisis86 23rd-Jun-2010 06:34 pm (UTC)
i like them but they all look like outfits Beyonce has worn when she was imitating Madonna. ESP the first two damn, and i love when they show the artist sketches cos a smart person who just put that outfit together from various shops etc and get the same damn look for half the price.
amalgamade 23rd-Jun-2010 06:54 pm (UTC)

turi 23rd-Jun-2010 07:27 pm (UTC)

The first blazer, on its own, is rather cute.
robmmad16 23rd-Jun-2010 11:41 pm (UTC)
Lola had a hand in the designs. She's cool and a rather big and growing style icon!

Very Lourdes!

Too bad I am boycotting Macy's.
minimalismo 24th-Jun-2010 03:53 am (UTC)
That would have been relevant in the 80s.
