“Save ‘Law & Order’” Campaign Hits Facebook

Save Law & Order

The Major Case Squad has tried its last homicide: In case you haven’t heard, on Thursday, Law & Order
was ROBBED of the chance to make history as the long-running drama in television history.

After 20 years on the air and some of the most envelope-pushing plotlines the small screen has ever seen, L&O was given the axe by NBC this week. A 21st season renewal would have shattered Gunsmoke’s record and etched a new place in history for Dick Wolf’s original crime procedural.

“The full measure of the collective contributions made by Dick Wolf and his ‘Law & Order’ franchise over the last two decades to the success of NBC and Universal Media Studios cannot be overstated,” Jeff Gaspin, Chairman, NBC Universal Television Entertainment, said in a statement. “The legacy of his original ‘Law & Order’ series will continue to make an impact like no other series before.”

But Law fans aren’t letting their favorite show go to the television graveyard without a fight. Someone has launched a Facebook campaign to save Law & Order. Hey, it worked for Betty White!

“We need to band together to help save this classic show! Where would we be with out Sam Waterston and S. Epatha Merkerson!” the group’s description reads.

L&O will conclude with a one-hour series finale on Monday, May 24.
