Jessica Simpson reveals she doesn't brush her teeth everyday

Jessica Simpson accepts a special gift from Ellen DeGeneres on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing Wednesday (April 28) - a basket full of dental floww!

The 29-year-old entertainer, who said she’s currently “single but…mingling around,” shared, “I mingle around very privately. I have ways in and out of my house and certain places that I go that are private just so I can have a normal life. I’m still out there and bring normal.”

As why she only brushes her teeth three times a week, Jess shared, “My teeth are so white and I don’t like them to feel too slippery, but I do use Listerine and I do floss every day. But, I don’t brush them every day.”

“I’ll use a shirt or something,” Jess continued. “I know it’s gross but I always have fresh breath. It’s really weird, but I have great breath.”

I do that sometimes. I'm so bad about flossing, but I do use a water pik.

I know a lot of people who do that.

no. I get toothpaste foam on my clothes sometimes and i don't like hunching over the sink. in the shower its just more convenient, imo

Brushing over the sink makes me gag more (no idea why), so I usually brush in the shower. Not weird at all.

At least you brush your teeth.

yup. my aunt brushed 2/3 times a day for years and her gums are so fucked up now. she had to have this massive surgery because of it a few years ago.

I know but I can't do it for shorter :'( I went through this OCD period when I was in middle school and this was the result. I've told my dentist and they said so far it's fine, but I will probably try to cutback to about three minutes.

it's not wayyyyyyy too long lol. 3 minutes is what we recommend to every patient and give them a 3 minute timer. i've heard anywhere from 2-4 minutes. anything less than 2 and you slackin'.

I only brush twice a day for about 2 mins and I fucked up my gums! It doesn't really have to do with how long you brush your teeth, but how hard you brush them. I ended up exposing my enamel on my molars by brushing too vigorously. Ugh.
