shia running a marathon post

Shia LaBeouf keeps it sexy in a pair of running tights as he races in the Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday morning (March 21).

At 7:48AM, the 23-year-old actor started off his run at Dodger Stadium. Shia finished his 26.2-mile trek to Santa Monica Pier in 4 hours and 35 minutes. He placed #5825 out of nearly 25,000 runners. (#1 runner Wesley Korir ran the marathon in 2:09.)

trekkiepetrelli 22nd-Mar-2010 06:25 pm (UTC)
ikr! i love this guy to death, but if he doesn't shave soon,
this golf club will slip out of my hand and beat the moustache
off his face. especially if some of that spit hit my trainers!
ugly_jacket 22nd-Mar-2010 08:51 am (UTC)
i would love to run a marathon one day, but i've never been able to get to that place in running where my brain shuts off and you just.... go. any other exercising like biking or elliptical i can do it, but never running
nymosy 22nd-Mar-2010 08:53 am (UTC)
i usually got to that point (back when i used to run) after i had been running for a few weeks and my body was so used to it that my mind could ignore all of my body's complaints. do you run often?
nine_am 22nd-Mar-2010 09:08 am (UTC)
Hm... you're saying if you run often like for example about 3 months and you stop at the 4th month, your body "complains" to you to go and run again? I wanna start running but I always get unmotivated or something like that.
tangerinefriday 22nd-Mar-2010 09:10 am (UTC)
I have in the past (rarely though) and its just so much better than any other kind of shutting off.. its harder to get to that point though, its not just that its a tough workout, the impact has a lot to do with it I think.
deimos_dagny 22nd-Mar-2010 09:49 am (UTC)
I've only gotten there by running!

In the past, when I've been injured and couldn't run, I've attempted to throw myself into cycling or swimming to see if I can get there, but I never have.
markovnikov 22nd-Mar-2010 12:52 pm (UTC)
that's cuz real cycling is hard. the elliptical is not.
helmiwell 22nd-Mar-2010 03:57 pm (UTC)
Actually, don't run a marathon. Studies have shown running long distance is not good for your knees.

And from 1 to 48 hours after running a marathon, your body's immune system is all wonky.
artvandellay 22nd-Mar-2010 04:11 pm (UTC)
You just have to build up your endurance in small increments
sunshinefun27 22nd-Mar-2010 05:18 pm (UTC)
they say if you can do it for four weeks, it gets a lot easier. and to make sure to start out really slow w/intervals. one of the biggest reason people get turned off to it is bc they're pushing themselves to hard
justlikethat 22nd-Mar-2010 05:53 pm (UTC)
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

that is a cool place if you want to get into running. it helps build up your endurance, breaks it down so it's easier to get to the goal. and they have podcasts and playlists you can download that tell you when to walk, stop, etc. pretty cool.
mycousinmufasa 22nd-Mar-2010 07:32 pm (UTC)
Same here. I'd love run one someday, but I've never really done long distance running before. I'm trying to find local 5ks to start with.
fufu_thing 22nd-Mar-2010 08:52 am (UTC)
sweat is prectically pouring from this mothafuckas face.
why you running when nobody chasin you?
don't get me started on them tights...
_redcorvette 22nd-Mar-2010 09:54 am (UTC)
why you running when nobody chasin you?

lol forever. Seriously. That's how I feel about running.
mrsreucassel 22nd-Mar-2010 09:56 am (UTC)
They look like compression tights - if you're gonna run for more than 3 hours, these are a really good idea, especially if you aren't a regular marathon runner. These will help him to be able to walk the next day.

But yeah, they look awful.
supercrimen 22nd-Mar-2010 03:00 pm (UTC)
