This is the first starring role for Mad Men's Jon Hamm, who could be on the verge of becoming a movie star. There are many more example of tv stars attempting a career in the movies and failing than making the transition smoothly . It's still early, but Hamm has the screen presence to at least have a solid career in the movies, even if he isn't the next George Clooney.
This movie, which was originally called 'Stolen Lives' , quietly had a limited theatrical release on March 12. Unfortunately for Hamm, this movie probably will not do much for his movie aspirations, but it probably won't hurt to much either. The reviews have been bad, getting a "generally unfavorable" metascore average of 34 on metacritic between 10 major reviews.
Hamm will probably emerge relatively unscathed because it's not a big film and the reviewers seemed to have the biggest problem with the script, not the performances. The next big movie role for Hamm is as an FBI agent in The Town, starring Ben Affleck & Jeremy Renner , which will be released this September.
