If you'd asked us what Cheryl Cole thought of David Cameron, we'd imagine her saying "Is he the one from Charlie's Angels who used to go out with Justin Timberlake?" but it turns out we're the ignorant ones - Chezza's actually well clued up 'n' stuff when it comes to politics.
In a new interview with Q magazine to accompany this dark and edgy shoot, Cheryl says her political allegiances lie firmly with Labour. "David Cameron. Brrrrr. Slippery isn't he?" she says. "We’ve always been Labour in our family, it just feels wrong not to be. Better the devil you know."
Cheryl also says she's not nearly as concerned about making it big in America as everyone thinks she is. "There's a rumble about going over," she admits. "But I don't want to put myself out there to fail. It's not something I constantly think about. Does that sound weird? I like being in company. That's what made me realise I wanted to be in a band....I can't be out there alone. I'm not at that point of going solo [full time] yet. The other day I was like, oh god, why would you even do this when you've got for four friends as a security blanket?"
Amusingly, she's also confessed that she's not always been a fan of some of Girls Aloud's biggest hits. "I remember listening to Love Machine and thinking, 'We cannot put this crap out'," she reveals (we now want to do the dance routine IN HER FACE). "That's what I said to the label: it sounds like something Busted would do. Then it went to Number 2. I was, like, Oh right. OK. I'll keep quiet."
But the best bit of the interview is where she reveals it took a long time for her to agree to go out with Ashley. "I turned him down a few times before I got with him," she says. Woo, high five sista, etc. "I had a preconceived idea of what footballers were like. Ashley is ridiculously, painfully shy. You can't tar everyone with the same brush."
