she's doing it because the heat from the candle is supposed to melt your ear wax and sort've suction it out from all the lack of O2... something like that.

my friends used to do it all the time but we googled it once and its just a myth SO it actually doesn't work and can actually CAUSE an infection.

I've had it done and wax definitely does come out (of the ear type), but I don't know what really is causing it to happen. I just know it worked for me.

oh damn i didnt know she was actually using a REAL candle. lol. my husband sometimes uses these things you buy from the salon.. its paper & it burns all the way down.. supposed to vacuum the ear wax.

It is! You're not actually supposed to clean your ears unless you happen to get enough build up to obstruct hearing. Otherwise, you're stripping the protection *of* your hearing!
