omg you guys i'm drunk so i don't know if that has anything to do with it but my ipod has like over 1500 songs and is on shuffle but the past 12 songs have been hilary, weezy, or the beatles...i'm impatiently awaiting the next song.
my ipod clearly shuffles things by artists or albums or something, even when I tell it to shuffle by song. It never truly randomly shuffles. I wish I know how to make it do that.
I was just complaining about this earlier. my 'shuffle' almost always only plays Britney, Incubus, & NIN - not that it's a problem, but I DO have other music
You might try making a Smart Playlist in iTunes and then playing that. File -> New Smart Playlist. Then select "Last played" from the drop down list and "is before" and a date in the past (how far in the past is up to you - - the farther back, the more random it may seem).
*One caveat: Last played only counts the song if you have listened to it all the way through to the end. So if you skipped to the next song without listening through to the end of the current song, it would not register as played.
Whenever I have my iTunes on shuffle practically every other song is by The Beatles. That probably has more to do with the inordinate amount of The Beatles on there than anything else, though.
