Oprah Winfrey has granted the wish of fellow celebrity Ellen DeGeneres by sharing the front cover of her magazine, with the talk show Queen (the Oprah one) saying, “Ellen DeGeneres is a woman who can make things happen. When she decided she wanted to be on the cover of O, she pulled out all the stops. It worked—for only the second time in O history, this December, I’m sharing the cover with a woman I adore.”

1) anybody can afford to eat healthy. special k and skim milk won't set you too far back. the fact is that no matter how awesome of a chef you've got, chocolate cake still exists and it still tastes damned good.

2)I think I remember watching some ~biography special on her..I remember something about her having a thyroid disorder and how even when she was at her thinnest she gained the weight back pretty quickly.

age and genetics aside, i also think oprah's success isn't too dependent on how skinny she is (whereas for movie stars and models it is). it's certainly easier to lose weight when your entire livelihood depends on it. if anything, the fact that oprah is the size that she is and also struggles with issues such as weight and dieting makes her more accessible to the demographic she is reaching.
