That shit was more than likely not transparent until the photographer's flash went off. That's where a lot of these celebrities get in trouble. They wear stuff that looks fine in regular light, but becomes flimsy under bright light.

Getting mine done didn't hurt at all. I was sore the next day, but the pain came and went, kind of like cramps. It was only the next day though, since then I've been fine.
I would never get a nipple ring. I know tons of people with everything pierced, and I've heard the most horror stories about the nipple ring :(
