former supermodel Elle Macpherson bravely speaks out against equal rights

Q: But you shy away from the word "feminism"?
A: It's one of those coined phrases that has a lot of innuendo and not much meaning these days. There's a stereotypical perception that a feminist is somebody who believes in equal rights for men and women. Well, I believe men and women are different and they have different needs, therefore the concept of equal rights doesn't really sit with me in many ways.

another pearl of widsom from the same interiew:

Q: Why has fashion alienated larger women?
A: It's expensive to create the products. Perhaps larger women haven't been as celebrated and therefore haven't been interested in themselves, but today larger women, or all different body types, are celebrated.

idk, I kind of, but not really, agree with the equal rights thing. Probably just because lazy, whiny, feminists really annoy me.

.... so you don't believe in equal pay for equal work?
krizzmiss 27th-Jul-2009 06:37 pm (UTC)
oh gosh of course i do! if you do equal work.

there was this one whiny feminist at my job though who whined about that shit every day though (even though she was paid the same as everyone else, men included.) And she'd be so busy crying about feminism and how sad women are that she NEVER DID ANY WORK. therefore, deserved to be paid less.

Lazy, whiny feminists?

Girl, you don't know any feminists, if you see them as lazy or whiny.

i do. maybe she just wanted to be cool, so she though feminism was the way to go. idk. i mean, my best friend is a femi-nazi, and she was totally fine. jsut this one girl i worked with was so stupid and didn't do anything and then got upset when people were like DO SOME WORK, i don't care if you just got your nails done.

lol i've never heard of this strand of feminist before.

the lazy whiny ones...

where can i find them?
krizzmiss 27th-Jul-2009 06:55 pm (UTC)
NOTE: i don't disagree with equal rights, or feminism. where i live, everyone is quite spoiled and girls call themselves "feminist" without actually doing any work at all, usually. i didn't mean to offend!

Every comment you made in this thread was literally nonsense.

I've read your other comments. Since you seem sincere about acknowledging that you phrased yourself wrong and want to become more educated about feminism, pick up Fight Like a Girl. It's an easy read and one of the better up-to-date primers on feminism.
