Parker, Broderick to Live Separately

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have decided to live apart following the birth of their twins, according to reports.

The acting duo, who have been married for 12 years, have apparently decided that Broderick will remain in their New York apartment, while the Sex And The City actress will move to a multi-million dollar Brooklyn home with daughters Tabitha and Marion and 6-year-old son James.

A source told Look magazine: "Sarah clearly loves Manhattan but she has three children now. It might be better for them to grow up somewhere calmer. But Matthew loves their townhouse in Manhattan because it's close to his work on Broadway."

The friend continued: "It would be a surprising decision to make so soon after the arrival of their twins. Having the babies born healthy and happy was a dream come true, so it’s strange that they might have to spend some time apart at this stage."

Really, I think he wants to live in the Meat Packing District, and decided to let go of the reins so she could run free.

OMFG LOL ilu op.
lightredemption 22nd-Jul-2009 01:22 pm (UTC)
but they're still together?
zulkey 22nd-Jul-2009 04:00 pm (UTC)
They might say so but come on.
manoosha 22nd-Jul-2009 04:05 pm (UTC)
I have no idea about those two. He's obviously gay (maybe), and horsey jokes aside, she's an attractive, wealthy woman who shouldn't have trouble finding a husband who loves her, and is into her sexually. Who the hell knows ...
kuntacore 22nd-Jul-2009 01:23 pm (UTC)
sad :(
Hope that isn't true.
seasons_of_mist 22nd-Jul-2009 01:25 pm (UTC)
rofl I hope the ONTDer who claimed their friend fucked him will come.
recognitions 22nd-Jul-2009 03:40 pm (UTC)
I bet she will.
ohyesdaddy 22nd-Jul-2009 01:26 pm (UTC)
Why, oh why, would you go through the process of adopting two children together if you are on the brink of divorce? So selfish.
celica18l 22nd-Jul-2009 01:27 pm (UTC)
the twins are biologically theirs.
grammaire 22nd-Jul-2009 01:27 pm (UTC)
Well a lot of people thinking having a baby will somehow bring them closer together and save their relationship. However, that being said -this article is probably fake.
darkqueenakasha 22nd-Jul-2009 01:30 pm (UTC)
Having a kid won't save a relationship. I nearly did that when I was 18 *is 25 now* and I'm so thankful I didn't.
forgethissmile 22nd-Jul-2009 01:43 pm (UTC)
It's sad that people think that, especially since it actually does more harm than good.
Yeah, it "brings you together" because you made life, but then you have to RAISE the child, and you have to have a pretty solid relationship to raise children without crumbling apart.
purplelover13 22nd-Jul-2009 01:55 pm (UTC)
Surrogate /= adoption...

Plus, gestating a child generally takes 9 months, things can go to shit in less time than that.
celica18l 22nd-Jul-2009 01:26 pm (UTC)
having an infant is hard enough w/o having a second one.

I could see wanting to live close to work but damn.
xjustinyx 22nd-Jul-2009 03:42 pm (UTC)
but is brooklyn really that far? i mean i know manhattaners act like it is but... come on
celica18l 22nd-Jul-2009 03:56 pm (UTC)
i have no idea about the distance. I understand both points though.

Maybe he's just being a dick lol
slutdrunkmystag 22nd-Jul-2009 06:49 pm (UTC)
It's not that far, but it's kind of crazy to me that they'd do that when that puts her taking care of two newborns on her own...
snapesnape 22nd-Jul-2009 10:28 pm (UTC)
lol seriously
grammaire 22nd-Jul-2009 01:26 pm (UTC)
"Sarah clearly loves Manhattan but she has three children now. It might be better for them to grow up somewhere calmer. But Matthew loves their townhouse in Manhattan because it's close to his work on Broadway."

Bullshit. It's called a taxi, the subway, or a hired car.

tammyinlalaland 22nd-Jul-2009 04:36 pm (UTC)
I don't think it is that big a deal. I know a lot of people who have a small place in the city to not have to deal with the commute and spend weekends, etc with their family in their home in the burbs. This schedule with a Broadway show would not be so easily messed with infants. The crying/sleeping thing would be hard.

My guess is a lot of time together and but sleeping apart
carnivore 22nd-Jul-2009 06:13 pm (UTC)
lol ikr. it takes about fifteen minutes.
buffy_usa 22nd-Jul-2009 07:18 pm (UTC)
i think it's called separation then divorce/

hollywood is weird with this stuff. neither career would be hampered by their split, who cares?
ohhkathleen 23rd-Jul-2009 01:52 am (UTC)
They obviously aren't ready to announce they are seperating. Unless they think it will realy work out if they have some time apart.

Or, this is all not true.
thelookofarebel 22nd-Jul-2009 01:27 pm (UTC)
this might have something to do with the fact that he is homosexual.

sierraton 22nd-Jul-2009 03:09 pm (UTC)
Yeah, ya' think? ;-)
buffy_usa 22nd-Jul-2009 07:19 pm (UTC)
i don't think so. the rumors and some speculative photos are that he was having an affair - with another woman

he was with jennifer gray before sjp.
comaeffigy 22nd-Jul-2009 01:27 pm (UTC)
So they're breaking up but have trouble admitting it?
buffy_usa 22nd-Jul-2009 07:20 pm (UTC)
exactly. stupid publicity stuff is stupid.
u_belong_to_me 22nd-Jul-2009 01:27 pm (UTC)
Wait, so does that mean that they're separating because of their marriage? Or is it some temporary thing?
l_dolla 22nd-Jul-2009 03:33 pm (UTC)
temporary thing is what they are saying
grammaire 22nd-Jul-2009 01:28 pm (UTC)

manatees 22nd-Jul-2009 04:17 pm (UTC)
IKR? Makes me proud to be part of ONTD. Honestly I think the Pincers gif should be on every post, be it an HP post or not.
bronxdawn 23rd-Jul-2009 04:29 pm (UTC)
Yummy, yummy Potions Master.

Alan Rickman can say anything, literally, and make me weak in the knees.

darkqueenakasha 22nd-Jul-2009 01:28 pm (UTC)
living separate? yeah they are going to divorce. if they were a happy couple, tihs would make no damned sense. Hell, I'm in VA and if my guy got stationed in Italy where I don't wanna go, I'd go cause I'm happy w/ him/love him. That and I'd want to raise the kids with him. fuk location. wth?
leonardbriscoe 22nd-Jul-2009 02:08 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry, but you'd rather stay in Virginia than live in Italy?

ev1lkitkat 22nd-Jul-2009 04:39 pm (UTC)
~~Virginia is for Lovers~~
darkqueenakasha 22nd-Jul-2009 04:48 pm (UTC)
italy is good for a vacation but i don't want to live there
love_ology 22nd-Jul-2009 05:24 pm (UTC)
I live in VA and I stayed with a friend in Rome for a few weeks a few years back...it was beautiful but I wouldn't want to live there. I was in love at first but aching to go home by the end.
healthypanda 23rd-Jul-2009 02:46 am (UTC)
IKR? I was born in Italy but moved to Virginia Beach when I was a baby...I'd take Italy in a second.
la_guillotine 22nd-Jul-2009 02:57 pm (UTC)
Manhattan and Brooklyn are right next to each other, VA & Italy are not.
anabanana0714 22nd-Jul-2009 03:07 pm (UTC)
Not necessarily. My friend's mom refused to move up to Monterey when her dad got stationed there because my friend had already started school, and the Navy kept fucking up with her dad's career and sending him back and forth between San Diego and Monterey. Her dad (who is a pilot) just commuted between the two places for two years, every other weekend. Her parents are still happily married.

That being said, Matt and Sarah and definitely not a happy couple.
xeatxep 22nd-Jul-2009 03:09 pm (UTC)
Uhm good luck with that.
I hope for your sake your guy doesn't get stationed somewhere where he can't be accompanied.
lillylilacs 22nd-Jul-2009 04:18 pm (UTC)
i am confused to why you would not want to go to italy
madamerue 22nd-Jul-2009 07:08 pm (UTC)
healthypanda 23rd-Jul-2009 02:45 am (UTC)
I lived in Virginia Beach and was born in Italy...Italy would be great to live, even if for a couple of years.
psychicherz 22nd-Jul-2009 01:29 pm (UTC)
why can't people just admit something's not working out?
darkqueenakasha 22nd-Jul-2009 01:31 pm (UTC)
denial? or in case of celebs, just want to avoid the media about it
love_potion9 22nd-Jul-2009 04:16 pm (UTC)
maybe they're legit hoping that it won't have to come to that, idk.
ily01 22nd-Jul-2009 01:31 pm (UTC)
I actually work with someone who lives in a different state from his family and commutes home on days off/weekends. Has been doing it for like- 10 years so the kids didn't have to change schools. Still doesn't mean SJP and MB are staying together, but it does happen. As strange as it is.
recoil_ 22nd-Jul-2009 01:44 pm (UTC)
I knew someone who did that too, but only because the local office near his family closed and his option was either a) lose his job or b) get hired at the out of state office and commute from Portland to Seattle every week. He had his own apartment there too.

But yea, still doesn't mean SJP and Bueller are going to stay together. Sad really since they just had the twins.
thethinwhtduke 22nd-Jul-2009 02:22 pm (UTC)
my husband lives in australia where he works, and myself and out 1 year old live in illinois.

sometimes people do what they have to do :)

thesmokeclears 22nd-Jul-2009 03:27 pm (UTC)
I know lots of people in this situation...but the fact that they're both going to be living in NYC still is what makes this so strange. I would understand if she had to be in LA and him in NYC, but they are in the same friggin' city! Odd.
evilmaidel 22nd-Jul-2009 04:37 pm (UTC)
i know people that have that situation as well. plus i kind of get it, i would NEVER want to raise kids in manhattan.

that said... they're most probably splitsville.
carnivore 22nd-Jul-2009 06:14 pm (UTC)
that makes sense when work and home are far apart from one another, but it's about a 15 minute cab ride btwn brooklyn and manhattan.
ohh_hay 22nd-Jul-2009 01:31 pm (UTC)

Anyway, this is sad. I know there's been talk of them separating and/or divorcing for a long time, but I love them together :(
brandon198403 22nd-Jul-2009 01:59 pm (UTC)
ikr, i'm really over the horse thing too
fisher55 22nd-Jul-2009 02:34 pm (UTC)
i feel like it never gets old, myself.
