Are Some Things Best Left Unanswered?
The recent Lostpedia Q&A with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse - which, by the way, awesome - left me with one particular thing to ponder. When asked about Libby the writers basically said that this may be something that will be left unanswered, as their priorities are on the more pressing bits of mythology that need answering pronto.
Now this is fair enough I guess - but I did kind of take umbrage with their opinion that Libby is a low down question to answer. It's my personal opinion that when you actually END an episode with Libby at Hurley's mental institute - and this is used as the end of Lost episode 'OMG' cliffhanger moment - to leave this unanswered is a bit of a cop out. But am I just being a bit pedantic and hoping for too many answers?? As a Lostpedian, the word pedantic is pretty much your middle name.... but are some questions just sacred ground to us? Are there any questions that you guys would be outraged about if they weren't answered on the show? Are there any questions you wouldn't really care about learning the truth about or not? Are we being a little too glass half full believing all our questions will be solved when he hit the end of Lost days?

"Libby is also one of those things where we feel like, that story's told--it's done. We've told as much about Libby as we wanna tell....For us, Libby's story is done."
Tell Libby's backstory! Facebook group disagree...

The fans know this is not true. Moreover, this obviously contradicts what they promised in prior interviews, such as this one in 2007 with EW:
"There's really one significant missing piece to Libby's story. We saw in the season finale last year that she met with Desmond, she gave him his boat, and we know that her husband died — and then we know that subsequent to that, she spent some time in a mental institution, the same one as Hurley. The question the audience wants answered is, How did she get from A to B — from Desmond to the mental institution? We know the answer to that question, but the only way to tell that story is through another character's flashback, and that character would have to be another character on the show who is not among the beach dwellers."
LOSTPEDIA asked them about the interview
Alex: One mystery that you said a month ago, in a Sky One interview, you were not going to show us is basically Libby's backstory, yet two seasons ago you basically said there was one significant missing piece from her story which is how she got from Desmond to the mental institution, and you also added that to know that answer, you had to show her story through another character's flashback. So, now that you've said that her story is done on the show, can you now tell us her missing piece and which character would you have told it through?
Carlton: Uhh, you know, again, these are not questions that we are going to answer. I think the point we were trying to make with the Libby story is that everything is graded in terms of importance for us, and, as we are doing the last season of the show, it's not going to be sort of a didactic, you know, here's a list of a thousand questions that we're going to answer. That would not make for a very entertaining show. We are focusing on what we consider to be the significant questions, and mysteries, and character relationships. That's the story that we're gonna tell. I think that the reference to Libby was more illustrative of the fact that I think, we accept the fact that in the end of the day there will, probably, you could ask a spectrum of a thousand different fans “Well what question did you not get answered?” and there might be a thousand different answers, but we are focusing on what we consider to be the main questions of the show and the main narritive. It's impossible to tie up every loose end, and we don't really consider, honestly, Libby's story is incredibly tangential to the principle action on the show. For us, the focus of the final season really has to be on the main characters and what would generally be acknowledged as the most significant mysteries.
This is bulshit! I'm joining the facebook group and the online petition. I've been waiting for years to know what happened to Libby, specially after they said they would explain it. I'm really REALLY upset that in the end, all these little questions won't be even mentioned again. Such a cheap way to keep us watching the show, guys!
It's like not explaining why was Claire with Christian inside Jacob's cabin! pfffff >:(

because answering a small question or two every now and then would've been silly!
but yeah, personally i don't really care about libby that much. would be neat if we'd randomly see her once again in a flashback but if not, it won't ruin the show for me, you know?
basically i think this current season has been amazing and i love lost now as much as i did during the first season, even though at some point i was getting a bit tired of the endless new questions.
somehow the show has turned into a HILARIOUS parody of itself, almost, and without losing any of its original greatness.
tl;dr - ♥ lost, whatever about libby, please to be killing off kate asap
that gif is teh awesome
Matthew Fox was hilarious on "Regis and Kelly" yesterday. Poor confused Regis.
Regis had no clue why half of them were in the seventies and why half of them were in 2007. It was pretty funny.
srsly the tailies were useless. bernard and eko were cool but that was it.
What a waste of an awesome character, I wish he'd hadn't wanted to be written out of the how D:
