LILY ALLEN'S "IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU" DEBUTS AT NO. 1 ON BOTH U.K. ALBUM CHART AND ON iTUNES' U.S. ALBUM CHART, WHILE LEAD SINGLE "THE FEAR" TOPS U.K. SINGLES CHART FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WEEK.
Lily Allen's It's Not Me, It's You enters the U.K. album chart at No. 1 while in the States it claims the No. 1 spot on iTunes' album chart and debuts at No. 5 on The Billboard 200. The album sold over 70,000 copies in the U.S. last week - double the first week sales of the Capitol Records recording artist's 2007 debut, Alright, Still, which to date has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.
Allen, who appears on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Wednesday, launched the album with performances on the "TODAY" show and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and a MySpace Secret Show in New York City. She co-headlined Clear Channel's Pop Rocks Atlantis 2009 event with Kelly Clarkson in The Bahamas over the weekend and will launch a North American headlining tour on April 1st.
Lead single "The Fear" has been No. 1 on the U.K. singles chart for three consecutive weeks and recently topped Rolling Stone's "Hot List." The accompanying video, directed by Nez (The Streets, Kano), has been added at MTV, MTV Hits, mtvU, The N, Music Choice and LOGO.
MySpace Music reported over four million listens when it gave It's Not Me, It's You its world premiere the week prior to release and the album was featured in the listening party section on the AOL Music homepage and Spinner.com last week. Lily is "Artist of the Month" at WindowsMedia.com in February and at Barnes & Noble in March while fans on Facebook can have fun with the "Lilypoke" application, which lets them "throw" Lily's accessories at their friends.
Allen has appeared on the cover of Spin (the current issue), Billboard, NYLON and PAPER. "Lily is still fiery in all the right ways," said Spin while NYLON noted: "This provocateur with a heart of gold has returned with a wicked sophomore record."
