Ashlee Simpson Defends Sister


Since when did a woman's weight become newsworthy...

I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.

All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard.

Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend?

I seriously doubt it.

How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure?

Now can we focus on the things that really matter.

i have no sympathy for celebrities.

they get paid millions to do some album or tv show or movie, while there are doctors and nurses (for example) that save lives for less money and no worldwide fame.

they go into the business KNOWING that they will be judged on their appearances, even if its not something we'd do in normal life. you're in the entertainment business - and im gonna talk/hate/criticize on you, just get over it. i hate when celebs think they can have their cake and eat it too.

i hate this bitch, but in her "irrisistable" days she was borderline anorexic. i remember during her "driven" she said she would starve herself - it was sad :/

i remember i owned her first album, which i still occasionally pop in because she was adorable back then, and in the cover art she was a nice-sized curvy girl. and i mean curvy - not overweight in any way, but not a stick. so yeah, it's definitely not natural for her to be that thin lol

I don't know....when you see celebrities in real life they are always a significant amount thinner than they appear on TV. It probably moves you up a dress size on camera. She's about 5'4.....maybe a size 4 now?

she really is, I saw her in person recently. the problem is that she is both curvy and petite which needs to be fitted exactly right, or else you can appear extremely unattractive. also, she's not heavier than usual, she's just not insanely toned like she was 4 years ago. She's 28 years old, for Heaven's sake, too. Plus, that photo is taken with the lens pointing upwards, which makes the subject look heavier than in actuality. Similarly, it is oddly cropped.
